In years past, Groupon has been a lucrative tool to score some pretty great deals on discount tickets to Cedar Point, Kings Dominion, California’s Great America, and Gilroy Gardens (a Cedar Fair managed property).

However, in 2018 there appears to have been a shift in how Groupon and Cedar Fair work together. In the past the Cedar Fair parks partnered directly with Groupon to offer discount tickets, often times cheaper than they sold on their own website. For 2018, tickets now appear to be through a third party.

Viator is an subsidiary of TripAdvisor, offering tour accommodations and discounts around the world. They also appear to purchase large lots of Cedar Fair park tickets, selling them both on their own website and through partners like Groupon.

Lets take a look at what is offered and how it compares to the best publicly available offers directly through Cedar Point at the time of publishing.

$52.79– Good any 2018 operating day if you purchase by May 5; pricing good for kids, adults or seniors. Tickets are only valid for the date you select at time of purchase.

$62.99– Ages 3-61, 48″ or taller ticket good any 2018 operating day if purchased after May 5
$52.79– Ages 62-99 ticket good any 2018 operating day if purchased after May 5

$88.99– Two-Day ticket to Cedar Point and/or Cedar Point Shores. Days do not have to be consecutive.

So anytime any special offer is made, we like to comparative shop to see if we really are getting the best deal. As a baseline, it is best to start with the source and compare current prices to those on the Cedar Point website. (Note: These are the best offers at the date and time of publishing this offer. Better sales may be available after publication, so always compare prices.)

$45.00– Ages 3-61, under 48″ or ages 62 or older, visit any day
$49.00– Ages 3-61, 48″ or taller Monday – Thursday Ticket
$52.00– Ages 3-61, 48″ or taller Friday or Sunday Ticket
$55.00– Ages 3-61, 48″ or taller Saturday Ticket
$45.00– Everyone pays kids prices, visit any day August 20 – September 3

$75.00– Two-Day ticket to Cedar Point and/or Cedar Point Shores. Days do not have to be consecutive.

Keep in mind, any tickets purchased on the Cedar Point website also come with tax and processing fee which varies depending on the dollar amount.

For example, a $55 regular ticket costs $63.19 on Cedar Point’s website. Tickets via the Groupon/Viator offer above are only $52.79, saving you a bit of change since there are no additional taxes or fees. The $45 tickets on the Cedar Point website cost $52.79 after taxes and fees, the same exact cost as those via the Groupon offer.

The two-day ticket appears to be the only offer where it is cheaper to buy on the Cedar Point website ($83.99) rather than via Groupon ($88.99).

In Summary

While last year Groupon offered Cedar Point tickets for significantly lower than those purchased directly from the park’s website, in 2018, you can still save a little bit of money by purchasing your tickets now via the 2018 Cedar Point Groupon Tickets.
