When we envision the ideal amusement park type of food, sure there are the staples that have to appeal to a wide audience. However, when we go to an amusement park, we want to see the unusual, the outside-of-the-box menu items that one would come to expect at your local fair. There are some genius (or interesting…) food ideas coming out of fairs across America that spark the curiosity of guests and they are willing to pay to share in that moment with their family or friends.
When Tom+Chee were announced as a permanent staple at Kings Island for 2017, we were extremely excited! Then to top it off, they agreed to be placed onto the Kings Island dining plans, which is amazing news!
One of the signature menu items, that is NOT on the Kings Island dining plans, is the grilled cheese donut.
The grilled cheese donut takes a glazed doughnut sliced in half, then grilled with a slice of cheddar cheese.
The sweetness of the donut was REALLY good with the creaminess of the melted cheese. We really enjoyed trying the grilled cheese donut at Kings Island, and think it really epitomizes what one would expect to eat at an amusement park.
Tip: Make sure you have plenty of napkins as it is very sticky.
We should note that every time we have visited Tom+Chee, the staff have been amazingly efficient and quick at getting guests their orders. It was quite impressive!
