Welcome to our interview series where bloggers share their insights on dining when at Cedar Point! Alex is the owner of a Facebook based fan page dedicated to the world’s best amusement park, Cedar Point, called MyOwnCP; showing Cedar Point through his eyes. We asked him to write us a review on a recent dining experience.

Well, to be honest there have been many dining experiences at Cedar Point because the food is always good, no matter where you go to eat. Roller coasters and thrill rides are only part of what makes Cedar Point the world’s best amusement park, the food helps a lot too.

My all time favorite thing to eat at the park is the chicken finger baskets found throughout the many different food stands. I can not say why these chicken tenders are so good, because there are no words to describe them! They are always fresh and hot and fill you up for the day. They come with quite a bit of food and are perfect to share with a friend. Nothing beats eating the chicken finger basket underneath Sky Ride watching guests sail over you, hear the roar of Raptor, and watch Millennium Force climb up its first hill. The atmosphere of an amusement park always makes the food even better.

The chicken fingers are just one of the many food offerings at the park. If you like the more traditional carnival foods, the funnel cakes are a must have, but Cedar Point does not just offer the traditional funnel cake. You know the fried dough with the powdered sugar on top. This place takes it up to a new level by adding fruit like strawberries on top to give it a more sweet bite. Once you think that is the greatest tasting funnel cake you have ever had, the park takes it up ANOTHER level by adding their soft serve ice cream on top of the strawberries on top of the fried dough with powdered sugar!

I could go on and on about the amusement park versions of fast food but that would be enough to write an entire book about. As we all know summer can be very hot, or very wet with thunderstorms and rain. If you want to get out of the heat or dry off, you can try one of Cedar Point’s indoor restaurants such as Coaster’s Drive-In or the new Chickie’s and Pete’s.

The Philadelphia based sports bar offers tradition bar food with a great twist. One of their most popular offerings is their Crab Fries. When the park first announced this crazy sounding concoction, I immediately thought seafood only to find out it is not what it sounds like. These potato French fries are rubbed and coated with a crab seasoning giving it a unique flavor and served with a cheese dipping sauce. I had the honor of meeting Pete himself as the park preview before opening day, who said these fries are the best for amusement parks, because they are guaranteed to “stay down” on the stomach churning thrill rides.

Another top favorite for me personally is Chickie’s & Pete’s Buffalo Chicken Philly sandwich. Served on a toasted bun and covered in cheese sauce. This place is definitely a great addition to Cedar Point’s already amazing line up of food choices.

Another great sit down restaurant is the Midway Market. This buffet style restaurant offers different food choices for lunch and dinner throughout your day at the park. Lunch offers food like pizza and burgers, while dinner offers pasta and roasts from a carving station. Newly added last year to the Midway Market, is the Coke Freestyle machine giving guests a truly unique way to create new flavors of soda.

From traditional carnival foods, with a twist, to diner themed sit downs, to bar food Cedar Point offers endless choices to fuel your day at Americas Roller Coast. It has been an honor writing this up for CP Food Blog and love to hear from the fans.
