On July 7, 2018, we offered up a contest to win a free Cedar Point t-shirt on our Facebook page. All our fans had to do was ask us any question they wanted and the best question would win the shirt.
Below is a summary of questions and answers.
Do they still do the fearsome foursome challenge? (Timothy D Gering) In July 2010, after Bert the Conqueror rode the four biggest (at the time) roller coasters in an hour, guests wanted to do the same. So the park created the Fearsome Foursome Challenge. Guests had to register with the park to have a representative monitor their progress. Guests had to perform the challenge with no special treatment and had to wait in each line.
The Fearsome Foursome Challenge was similar to the High Rollers Club from the 1970’s, where guests had to ride Corkscrew, Jumbo Jet, Mine Ride, WildCat, and Blue Streak in one day to earn a special Cedar Point High Rollers Club patch.
Both programs have been discontinued.
What is your earliest Cedar Point memory? (Katie Spaulding) Growing up as an Ohio native, our family visited Cedar Point once per year for my father’s annual union party in the 1980s and 1990s. I remember climbing the Kid Arthur’s Court climbing structure and loving the Berenstain Bears.
How many pounds of french fries does Cedar Point make on an average day? (Will Davis) Depends if it is a day we are in the park or not. Actual numbers are proprietary and difficult to get an accurate number. However, for reference, a 2014 release of information said 595 tons of fresh cut fries are made each year.
How many trees are at Cedar Point? (Jeffrey Scoles Sr.) Not enough.
Will Cedar Point ever make their rides plus size friendly? (Pauline Kaltenbach-Kovac) It all comes down to physics. A ride needs to be able to return to the station given many factors including the weight of guests, which fluctuates each train. The ride vehicle typically has at least one seat to accommodate larger guests. However, ride manufacturers use their own discretion while also factoring in the safety of each guest.
What ride that was taken out of Cedar Point do you miss the most? (Wildcat Coasters) Paddlewheel Excursions
What is the best thing to do at Cedar Point? (Tisha Ann Colston) Cedar Point has become a multi-day experience with so many different things to do. Enjoy world-record breaking roller coasters, classic flat rides, live entertainment, the beach, an elephant ear. There is a countless number of activities that provide a unique experience with each visit.
Rougarou or Raptor, who has the best B&M roar? (Johnna King) Raptor can really sing.
Which ride(s) have been the most expensive and least expensive purchases in Cedar Point history? (Julie Reed-Malone) That’s beyond our pay scale and most numbers are confidential to the company. For reference, Top Thrill Dragster cost about $25 million in 2003.
What is the oldest piece of Cedar Point history still located on the property, and where is it located? (Chris W Ray) Anything in the Town Hall Museum.
Of the parks you have not been to, which is at the top of your bucket list with regards to food? (Mike Schell) The only parks our family has not personally been to are California’s Great America and Valleyfair. Of those two, CGA is at the top of our list to visit, though we already plan on visiting Valleyfair next season. Fortunately, we have an awesome partner covering CGA for our CGAFoodBlog! Know someone who loves Valleyfair and would like to work for us?

With places like Johnny Rockets, Pinks, Chick-Fil-A, Chickie’s and Pete’s, and Subway on our all season dining plan… do you think we will ever see Melt on the Cedar Point dining plans? (Robert Doel) We do not think the dining plan cost reimbursement back to the franchise could work at the current portion size. In addition, they are still trying to make sure the Melt experience is realized. It is possible perhaps next season but would likely be a scaled back menu option(s).

What is Cedar Point’s policy on taking pictures of people riding on rides he does not know? (Kevin Brady) Likely depends on the use of the photos. If for personal use, likely no issues. However, if you want to use them commercially, for a website, etc., you likely need to obtain their written permission. There is no official published policy other than no on-ride photos with the exception of the train. Always follow park rules!
