Do you have a Platinum Cedar Point season pass and do NOT have the dining plan? If you are signed up for the Cedar Point newsletter, you may have been targeted with a very interesting promotion offering steeply discounted dining plans for 2019.
We realize the dining plans can often be controversial and not for everyone. For guests that do not visit the parks often, a dining plan may not be for you. If you have issues with the service, quality, or quantity of the dining plans, they may not be for you. However, if you are like our family who likes to save money and averages 40 some visits to Cedar Fair parks across North America, and happen to write a food blog, it is probably in our best interest to have a dining plan. We also happen to really like a lot of the food (with of course a few clunkers here and there). 🙂
We renew our Platinum season passes with dining and drink plans when they first get released in the fall to lock in the lowest price, because they have historically always gone up in cost.
However, Cedar Point has recently sent out a targeted email blast to select passholders that do NOT have the dining plan for a steep discount.
For $69.99, guests can add on the Cedar Point dining plan to their pass. If you have not been paying attention, the Platinum dining plan is currently $142, making this a savings of 50%! That is an incredible savings!
To access the discount on the Cedar Point website, guests need promo code PSPDIN. However, the emails were targeted with a specific gift code to access the offer, meaning they are not transferable.
There is a lot we can say about this offer, but we would love to hear your thoughts below in the comments.
Dorney Park Discounted Dining Plan
Dorney Park is also offering a steeply discounted dining plan for $69.99 that has been targeted to select GOLD season passholders. Current gold dining plans are $119.00.

WELL HTH IS THIS FAIR TO THOSE OF US WHO PAID FULL PRICE???
They should offer a refund to passholders they pay for this every year for the preseason price. At least send out a gift card for the difference for continued support of the park. This is a big stab in the back for continued patronage to Cedar Fair. They really know how to hurt those that support them year after year.
What do those of us that have the food plan get? Not fair to us who have been purchasing the plan for aeveral years.
This isn’t right the pass holders that have gotten this plan year after year. …I’ll think twice next year on this, I dont have a problem with packing a cooler or even just going to Micky D’s or Dairy Queen right outside of park. 2 can play this game.
I’m annoyed as well. My husband and kids have the dining plan – I haven’t gotten it because I won’t be going as much as them and I’m not much of a fan of Cedar Point’s food offerings. I did not get the targeted email – I don’t think I was signed up for the newsletters but I’m not sure.
Between this and the “last day for a pass at the current price is Memorial Day, oh no wait, it’s June 3rd” it seems like Cedar Point is just training it’s customers to wait and see if a better deal is just around the corner – and for someone like me that often means not buying at all.
We have not got the food plan yet but would be very interested in this offer. We get platinum passes every year and usually the food plan. Can we get the code?
I did get this email and it’s at a price point where I’m actually considering it since the break-even point seems to be 5 meals and then it’s house money err food for the rest of the season. Usually my daughter and I would just get some fries to share during our 4-5 hours in the park but this might allow us to try some of the places (like the BBQ joints) we would never consider in the past due to the ridiculous cost.
I wonder if they will do this again this year?
