Whomever decided years ago that it would be a good idea to pair with their morning waffles a piece of fried chicken is perhaps on the same level of genius as our countries forefathers. Over time, there have been many variations of this southern specialty, and we were excited to try Chef Kris’ Carowinds chicken & waffles recipe.
Guests can purchase the chicken and waffles exclusively at the Carowinds Wings Restaurant.
The chef’s take on chicken and waffles includes a freshly homemade waffle warm out of the iron. Then after forming the waffle into a cone, chicken fingers are placed inside. The dish is then served with a side of honey and maple butter syrup.
At first, we may not have known what to expect out of this meal. However, as soon as the chicken and waffles with the syrup hit our lips, we were grasping for more. The crispy chicken tenders, the soft waffle, and the sweet sauce all played a little dance in our mouths with flavors. Simply amazing and a must try for fans of this southern specialty.
