Today we received an email from Cedar Point, offering passholder savings at Castaway Bay. To access the special rates, make sure you use Promotional Code “PASS.” Rates start at $109/night for a Starfish room, which features accommodations for four guests. We were curious how the new passholder rates compared to the Castaway Bay discounted rooms that are currently available on Groupon. The following are the dates that are running with both promotions (December 18, 2015 through January 15, 2016 (excluding December 31, 2015)), so lets take a look at how the rack rates compare.

There are a couple things to keep in mind when comparing the rates. The taxes and fees on Groupon appear to be about double to triple what they are directly through Castaway Bay. So for example, looking at the December 18 date, it appears the Groupon is a better offer; however, when you look at the taxes and fees, you end up paying about 6% more.

The Groupon offer extends into April, giving you more flexibility if you can not stay by January 15, 2016.

Clearly, one of the best nights to go is the weekend of January 1-2, 2016, at least compared to the Groupon price.
