<p>On the morning of Friday, July 26, I woke up in our suite at Hotel Breakers at Cedar Point- the day that we had scheduled a Silver VIP tour. I walked out onto the boardwalk for my morning caffeine and a cigarette, excited with the thoughts of the day ahead of us.</p>
<p>There is something very special to be said about early morning on the boardwalk at Cedar Point- the quiet, peaceful tranquility, the sounds of the Lake Erie waves pounding the shore, sound of seagulls honking, and people doing their morning exercise. This beach and boardwalk would soon be filled with smiling faces, laughter, music, sunshine, all of the good things in life.</p>
<p>One of my thoughts was how well this tour would play out. I had booked the Silver VIP tour in June, and it came with a hefty price tag. One of my concerns was weather, and so when booking it, I emailed the park to ask what would happen in the event of inclement weather. I very quickly received a reply that was written to me personally telling me basically that they “wanted our experience to be amazing, and in the event that there is bad weather, you can reschedule or cancel.”</p>
<p>Another concern was the reaction from fellow guests. We have been platinum pass holders every year since 2009; we average roughly 10-12 room nights per season at Cedar Point resorts, and have, plenty of times, seen the reaction of fellow guests when others receive special treatment.</p>
<p>I then reflected upon what got me here in the first place, have been earning my own money since I was 8, with a newspaper route, paid my own way through college, and through good recognition, a nice promotion at work this spring- I earned this- down to the penny.</p>
<p>Anyhow, I walked back in through the rotunda to the strong smell of coffee from Starbucks, and a line for said coffee longer than a line for Millennium Force on a HalloWeekends Saturday; so I ended up in the lobby of Perkins, awaiting my to-go order for breakfasts. As soon as I sat down, I received a call from Emily- she was from Cedar Point and wanted to confirm the details of our tour, and to tell us to meet our guide in front of <a href="https://cpfoodblog.com/park-food-guides/cedar-point-food/backbeatque/">Back Beat Que</a> at 11:00 AM. Emily ended the call with “looks like there’s going to be a high of 81 degrees, sunny, and no humidity, you have a great day ahead of you.&#8221;</p>
<p>Emily could not have been more right.</p>
<p>While eating our breakfast, we decided to leave the suite at 10:30- you know- to make sure that we were on time. From Hotel Breakers. In the tower section. 10:30. To be there at 11:00. We got to Back Beat at 10:35. </p>
<p>The excitement was starting to hit us, and those 25 minutes seemed like they took 4 hours- reminded me of being a kid on Christmas morning. We sat at the tables with the umbrellas across from the entrance of Back Beat, and luckily, the guides were early, I approached them and said that we were here for a Silver VIP Tour- there were 4 guides, and Adam, our guide, greeted me with a sincere, ear to ear smile on his face and said “You are my V.I.P. for today!”</p>
<p>He then tossed lanyards over our necks, and asked said “I am your guide, you tell me what you want to do!”</p>
<p>I explained to him that we are there quite a bit, we do not want to run from ride to ride, have always wondered what one of these tours would be like, we are not in a hurry, and, in fact, around 12:30 “might be ready for a beer break.”</p>
<p>Adam, a young, enthusiastic college student from Toronto, said “sounds like I am going to enjoy the day too! Which line would you like to skip first?&#8221;</p>
<p>Gatekeeper. </p>

<p>We came in last night, had our share of beers and more, gotta make sure the body is ready.</p>
<p>We took a semi-aggressive walk up to Gatekeeper, through the gift shop, up the exit, and Adam held his 2 fingers up (to indicate how many riders). All of the ride operators knew exactly what to do what was going on, and so they emptied the train, and kept the gates closed. </p>
<p>We walked past a crowded platform of people and plunked down in the front seat of the train and we rode like the wind.</p>
<p>We then proceeded to all of the other major rides. I am sure that those reading this know that it was the same- up the exit, immediate boarding in the front seat, a wonderful time, on a wonderful day, at a beautiful park.</p>
<p>Adam killed it- he was amazing- he held all of our loose articles while we rode, was waiting for us at the exit, got us drinks, a meal, and even got us straps for our sunglasses.</p>
<p>Ride count ended at 14 rides, some duplicated, but we could have done more had we been rushing.</p>
<p>We ended the day with a fantastic dinner at <a href="http://cpfoodblog.com/cedar-point-food/tomo/">Tomo</a>&#8211; very entertaining- and then Beach Blast. We still had two nights left to stay and enjoy.</p>
<p>Cedar Point truly lives up to it- it is a place like no other.</p>
