<p>It is that time of year where our family sits down to evaluate the economics of renewing our Six Flags season passes. As normal, Six Flags continues to complicate the process of buying a season pass, throwing new caveats into the mix for 2027. </p>
<p>Every year we sit down and run the numbers vs benefits to determine what our family should do in regards to renewing our Six Flags (formerly Cedar Fair) season passes. </p>

<p>Renewing season passes used to be such a simple process back during the Platinum pass era. Our family had been Platinum passholders since 2015 for the one simple benefit that it got us into all the legacy Cedar Fair parks. Each August our biggest decision was which park to renew since some may have given an extra benefit over the others. Prices were the same at all the parks and the system was consistent.</p>
<p>Then Six Flags elected to make new pass types with varying benefits and price points, and then rolled out passes be region locked unless you bought the All-Park Passport or this year upgraded to Prestige. </p>
<p>For 2027, Six Flags has further complicated the process by revising <a href="https://cpfoodblog.com/huge-changes-coming-to-2027-dining-plans/">how dining plans will be implemented</a>. </p>
<p>So lets look at what we know for 2027 season passes and add-ons. </p>
<h2>2027 Six Flags Passes</h2>
<p>As a baseline, our home park is technically Cedar Point, buy for years we have bought our passes through Canada&#8217;s Wonderland to save on the conversion ratio, saving our family 20-25%. </p>
<p>Cedar Point at the time of writing is currently offering two types of season passes.</p>
<p>Gold<br />
&#8211; $99 renewal; $115 new<br />
&#8211; region locked (midwest parks)<br />
&#8211; free general parking<br />
&#8211; 10% food and merchandise discount</p>
<p>Prestige<br />
&#8211; $279<br />
&#8211; all park access<br />
&#8211; includes drink package<br />
&#8211; free single use Fast Lane per visit<br />
&#8211; preferred parking; parking not included at Canada&#8217;s Wonderland; Knott&#8217;s Berry Farm is general parking<br />
&#8211; early entry to Cedar Point</p>
<p>For comparison, we will also show the Canada&#8217;s Wonderland price points since that is where we typically renew.</p>
<p>Gold- $99<br />
Prestige- $229</p>
<p>If the comparison ended there, the decision making would come down to what benefits we wanted for the new year and whether it was worth the price difference. However, in typical Six Flags fashion, they elected to screw up the dining plans by adding in some new caveats. </p>
<p>For 2027, Six Flags will now offer 3 different tiers of dining plans. Dining plans will now have a two hour requirement between meals (previously four hours) with no daily max.</p>
<p>20 Meals ($125)- $6.25/meal<br />
30 Meals ($169)- $5.63/meal<br />
Unlimited Meals ($399)</p>
<p>While the structure changes for 2027, there is also a stipulation now in place that the 20 and 30 meal plans are ONLY valid at the home park of purchase. So if you have a Prestige pass and only a 20 meal plan, you can no longer use it at another park. That is a BIG issue and fallacy of the program rollout. Six Flags is forcing a Prestige passholder into the unlimited dining plan if they really want to visit other parks. At such a huge price increase to go to the unlimited dining plan, it is unlikely to be a reality for most families. </p>
<p>Also of note though is that this makes a HUGE difference in whether to renew passes at Canada&#8217;s Wonderland or switch to Cedar Point.</p>
<h2>Our 2027 Decision</h2>
<p>For 2027, unlimited dining plans at a $399 price point is not even up for discussion. When there are five of us, we would never visit enough, let alone eat enough, to make it worth the cost. As it is, we are lucky at best if we stay and eat one meal per visit. The number of visits where we use the two meals per visit almost never happens unless we are visiting another park. </p>
<p>So since we are locked into a 20 or 30 meal plan, which is ONLY valid at your home park, it immediately throws out the option of getting the Prestige pass. </p>
<p>While the Prestige parking and daily single use Fast Lane are nice, the only true value in Prestige is access to all the other parks (hello, Platinum passes). </p>
<p>While our family does have a trip planned in 2027 that would take us past Kings Dominion, Carowinds, Six Flags Over Georgia, etc., the cost difference to upgrade to Prestige + unlimited dining is completely out of touch of reality for a family of five.</p>
<p>Therefore, the numbers are pretty simplified for 2027.</p>

<p>Even with a 20-25% CAD to USD conversion ($2355-2512), the dollars literally make no sense. </p>
<p>So the numbers make sense for our family, but the bigger question is whether the new 2027 numbers make sense for Six Flags? </p>
<p>When our family <a href="https://cpfoodblog.com/where-to-buy-2026-six-flags-season-passes/">renewed our 2026 season passes</a>, we paid $1,710.80 before the currency conversion. So ask yourself, the financial geniuses behind Six Flags AGAIN forced the consumer into making a decision that brings them less money then the year prior. This is great for us, but while Six Flags continues to promote value, they are not sitting down and really running the numbers for what the consumer is likely to purchase. They left money on the table. They could have better structured the program to provide true value to the consumer while still maintaining a strong price point to their bottom line. </p>
<p>In addition, while they give guests the option to visit other parks with a season pass, they again are kicking themselves in the value proposition. If our family visits another Six Flags park, we are open to closers. We want to get the full value for our day. In addition to using our dining and drink plans, we also take full advantage of purchasing merchandise and other park amenities (like the rotating bar at Six Flags Great Adventure). </p>
<p>However, for 2027, our drink and dining plans will not work at other parks. So guess what, we will not visit. Six Flags has stripped the value proposition out of a season pass with extremely paying up. We have had no problem paying up for that benefit as we were always Platinum pass holders which cost extra for the pass AND the dining plans. </p>
<p>So what did Six Flags get for 2027? They finally got us to renew through Cedar Point instead of Canada&#8217;s Wonderland. But at what cost? We are literally paying less for season passes next year than we had ANY OTHER YEAR. How does that make good business sense? Can Six Flags please let a consumer be in charge of pricing and product development because we want to see them succeed, but their math is not mathing. </p>
