<p><P><P>The goal of the CPFB is to encompass the historical preservation, analysis, and latest news on the food and dining options available at Cedar Point. With that being said, one can not talk about Cedar Point fresh cut fries, a fan favorite, without taking a look back at the original founders of the phenomenon, the Berardi Family. </p>
<p>In 1942, Al Berardi started and operated the first french fry stand at Cedar Point. Word quickly got around how terrific his fresh cut fries were, and thus a legend was born at Cedar Point.</p>

<p>Unfortunately for fans of the famous fries, the Berardi&#8217;s stopped operating their fry stand in 1978. While the family has owned many different versions of the restaurant over the years, they still run the Sandusky location (opened in 1989) and the Huron store (opened in 1979). </p>

<p>Today, the Berardi family still makes the pies like grandma used to make, as well as the famous fries.</p>

<p>I chose to start off my evening at the Berardi&#8217;s with a hand dipped raspberry shake. One of my pet peeves about milk shakes nowadays are the horribly refined &#8220;product&#8221; that comes out of a soft serve machine and is passed off as a milkshake. There is nothing like real ice cream and milk blended together for a perfect consistency. </p>
<p>Oh wow, did the Berardi milkshake impress all of the CPFB family. Excellent flavor with a raspberry sauce drizzled around the inside of the container. </p>
<p>We also elected to share a chocolate shake post-dinner, and while it was good, the raspberry version was much better.</p>

<p>For my dinner, I selected the fried green tomato burger served with famous fries. The burger was topped with a white cheddar, lettuce, grilled onions, bistro sauce, and topped with some fried green tomatoes. </p>
<p>On any typical day, personally, I want nothing to do with tomatoes. However, there is something about a fried green tomato that changed my mind many years ago. Therefore, when added to the top of the burger, fried green tomatoes are amazing. This burger was superb! </p>
<p>Our only suggestion on the burger was the fried tomatoes were rather small and in several pieces, making it a messy eat. It would have been better with fewer, larger pieces.</p>
<p>The fries were equally as tasty. It was noted the Berardi&#8217;s version of the fries, as compared with Cedar Point&#8217;s, are way less greasy. Also, the pairing with a burger made for an excellent accompaniment. </p>

<p>Also tried at our table was the breaded buttermilk chicken sandwich. The meal was enjoyed with a side of homemade onion rings. Both were excellent, and we thought it was nicely pounded thin and one of the best chicken sandwiches we had eaten. The onion rings were also fresh with a nice flavor. </p>

<p>Overall, the CPFB was really impressed with the Berardi restaurant. It was nice to see the love of food creation over the past 72 years coming together from a legendary fry to a perfect sandwich.</p>

I was up at CP for a weekend trip. I looked on Yelp! for some local eateries. This popped up. My buddy and I tried and loved it. Had the best Omelet ever here.
