<p>Have you made it a point to stop and visit Paul the wood carver on Cedar Point&#8217;s Frontier Trail? Paul is an amazingly talented wood carver who has been the head woodcarver since 1996. </p>
<p>As Paul chips away and sands amazingly intricate pieces of art hand made at Cedar Point, he is an absolute fascinating guy to discuss the park and his work. </p>
<p>In 2019, Paul&#8217;s workshop was converted to more of a store selling all kinds of wood products that are not made in the park. However, Paul still continues to carve away at some amazing pieces of history. From mermaids and dragons, to intricate recreations of items from Cedar Point&#8217;s past. </p>
<p>Now that the shop has been converted to a store, in a strange way it has become easier to see and perhaps enjoy a lot of his work. For years we would stop by and casually enjoy the wood shop. However, it was only this year that we really began to appreciate the grand experience of Paul&#8217;s wood shop. </p>
<p>You see, Paul has a great appreciation for the parks past, and he has managed to capture that in wooden form. </p>
<p>Now that the wood shop is less shop and more store, Paul was able to show us some of the vintage Cedar Point pieces he recreates. </p>
<p>It is a garbage can. Yeah, sure. It is a garbage can, but there is something unique about the recreation of the vintage trash receptacle that is quite charming&#8230;and compelling enough that we want to own one of these on our mantel. </p>

<p>The Pirate Ride vehicles are pretty awesome!</p>

<p>The Super Satellite Jets were an adult version of the helicopter ride in Kiddie Kingdom. </p>

<p>These large Wild Cat vehicles are a great memory of the past. </p>

<p>Paul continues to hand carve all kinds of really interesting pieces. However, as soon as he finishes them, they often sell immediately. The problem right now is Paul can not make items fast enough. So the best thing to do to score one of his amazing creations is be in the right place, at the right time when he puts them out for sale. </p>
<p>Or better yet, stay away so we can start decorating our mantel.</p>
