Every year Cedar Point opens up the park for a couple hours towards the end of October exclusively for Sandusky area residents. No rides, shows, stores, or dining locations are open. Cedar Point simply opens up the Midway and area businesses come into the park at assigned tables and pass out candy to the kids.

This years event took place on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Guests arrive quite early at the main gate for the event. Even 45 minutes early, the line was a hundred people or so deep. By the time the gates were opened, the lined wrapped back from the main gate, around the front dinosaur, and back up around the front of the parking lot. Easily several thousands people visited the event, and when leaving the park around 6:45, the line was still back around the dino and back up to the front entrance.

Upon entering the park, guest were directed around the Midway along the Starbucks (east) side towards Coasters. Then guests wrapped back around the western side of the Midway, back towards the entrance.

Kids were given a TON of candy from all of the vendors. Then at the end, Cedar Point handed out cups of hot chocolate, apple cider, and pre-packaged donuts.

Trick-or-treat at Cedar Point is a great, casual affair to see a lot of the decorations in the park and let the kids dress up and get some candy.

Tips for Trick-or-Treating at Cedar Point

– If at all possible, make sure to get to the park early, as the lines are historically long, and vendors risk running out of candy for those towards the end of the pack.

– You will not have to pay for parking or admission to the park for this event.

– Dress appropriately for the weather, as there could be higher winds than normal due to the proximity of the lake.

– Make sure the kids costumes are appropriate for a family friendly environment. It may not be appropriate to bring the guts and gore costumes.

– Bring a bag or basket to collect your candy. There will be some provided should you forget, but it is easier to be prepared and have one available.

– Monitor what candy goes into your child’s bag should there be allergy concerns or items inappropriate for your child’s age.
