Canada’s Wonderland Removal of HUSS Orbiter

<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>When Canada&&num;8217&semi;s Wonderland opened in 1981&comma; one of the rides was a HUSS Skylab&comma; or Giant Enterprise&comma; comprised of 15 gondolas&period; The ride was very similar to the <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;sanduskyregister&period;com&sol;story&sol;201808010039" rel&equals;"noopener" target&equals;"&lowbar;blank">Witches Wheel &lpar;Cedar Point&rpar;<&sol;a> that was removed near the end of the 2018 season&period; <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Orbiter was also known as Sol Loco with a Mexican theme from 1981 until 2002&period; In 2002&comma; the Sol Loco name and theming was dropped and the ride renamed Orbiter&period; The ride was temporarily removed during the 2006 season under Paramount&&num;8217&semi;s ownership&comma; who flies a drone adjacent to Canada&&num;8217&semi;s Wonderland during the off-season&comma; Brendon noticed the Orbiter was being deconstructed&comma; though at the time of discovery&comma; it was uncertain whether this was for routine maintenance or not&period; Though the ride was later seen in pieces in the parking lot where <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;cpfoodblog&period;com&sol;record-breaking-yukon-striker-dive-coaster-coming-to-canadas-wonderland&sol;">Yukon Striker pieces<&sol;a> were being staged&period; <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;cpfoodblog&period;com&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2019&sol;02&sol;Canadas-Wonderland-Orbiter-4-©Coaster-Circuits&period;jpg"><img src&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;cpfoodblog&period;com&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2019&sol;02&sol;Canadas-Wonderland-Orbiter-4-©Coaster-Circuits&period;jpg" alt&equals;"Canada&&num;039&semi;s Wonderland Orbiter 4 ©Coaster Circuits" width&equals;"4032" height&equals;"3024" class&equals;"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17098" &sol;><&sol;a><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Orbiter was officially removed from the Canada&&num;8217&semi;s Wonderland this past weekend&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Canada&&num;8217&semi;s Wonderland has later confirmed &&num;8220&semi;Yes&comma; Orbiter had its last season in 2018 and is currently being dismantled and removed from the park&period; As you know&comma; these decisions are difficult ones&comma; but we regularly evaluate our rides and consider downtime&comma; resources required for ongoing maintenance and overall guest satisfaction&period; There are no immediate plans for a replacement attraction on that plot of land&period; <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;cpfoodblog&period;com&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2019&sol;02&sol;Canadas-Wonderland-Orbiter-1-©Coaster-Circuits&period;jpg"><img src&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;cpfoodblog&period;com&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2019&sol;02&sol;Canadas-Wonderland-Orbiter-1-©Coaster-Circuits&period;jpg" alt&equals;"Canada&&num;039&semi;s Wonderland Orbiter 1 ©Coaster Circuits" width&equals;"1920" height&equals;"1440" class&equals;"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17095" &sol;><&sol;a><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Orbiter resided in the Action Zone portion of the park near Behemoth&period; The ride was actually in a weird location&comma; tucked downhill behind Coasters Drive-In&comma; and well concealed behind landscaping&period; If you did not know the ride was there&comma; it was easy to miss&period; It also may not have helped that many of our visits were during food festivals &lpar;like <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;cpfoodblog&period;com&sol;2017-canadas-wonderland-brew-bbq&sol;">Brew &&num;038&semi;     The Orbiter has been sold to another park. I do not know which park bought it.
    I do know Conneaut Lake Park in Pa. was interested in it.
