<p>Have you had the chance to check out the newly remodeled Castaway Bay at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio? </p>
<p>The entire property and all of the rooms received a complete refresh, opening back up in May 2022. 237 rooms &#038; family suites have been rethemed into the world and story of Castaway Bay with Land, Sea and Air decorated guest rooms.</p>
<p>Now that we get closed to the off-season, Castaway Bay is running a special Groupon promotion offering discounted rooms select nights through March 1, 2023.</p>

<p>Some of these dates look pretty promising for saving some money, but before we jump into any bookings, we wanted to compare the Groupon rates to those on the Cedar Point website. We randomly selected dates below. Your specific dates will vary and you will need to compare the offers.</p>

<p>The cheapest dates on the calendar can be found at $99 per night. So we selected <strong>Tuesday, October 4, 2022</strong>. </p>
<p>The Groupon offers works out to <strong>$118.55</strong> after taxes and fees. </p>
<p>Rack rate is $164.50 ($184.82 after taxes)<br />
Season passholder rate (promo code PASS) is $148.05 ($166.10 after taxes)</p>
<p>Therefore, guests can see the Groupon offer provides for some tremendous savings.</p>
<p>We also looked at the most expensive date on the calendar, checking in <strong>Saturday, February 18, 2023</strong>.</p>
<p>Groupon offer is $289 ($346.08 after taxes)</p>
<p>Rack rate is $320 ($361.70 after taxes)</p>
<p>Passholder rate is $288 (<strong>$325.30</strong> after taxes)</p>
<p>In this specific scenario, the passholder discount provides the cheaper rate.</p>

<p>Groupon rate is $187 (<strong>$222.93</strong> after taxes)</p>

<p>Passholder rate is $296.10 ($332.20 after taxes)</p>
<p>Once again the Groupon rate is the cheapest.</p>
<p>The most expensive dates on the calendar is <strong>December 29-31, 2022</strong>.</p>
<p>Groupon rate is $488 ($584.38 after taxes)</p>
<p>Rack rate is $539 ($608.53 after taxes)</p>
<p>Passholder rate is $494.10 (<strong>$557.43</strong> after taxes)</p>
<p>This specific scenario is a bit odd given that the Groupon rate is cheaper than the Passholder rate; however, after taxes and fees the Passholder rate provides the better deal.</p>

<p>The Groupon rate is again the cheapest option offered.</p>
<p>The most expensive night on the calendar is <strong>February 18, 2023</strong>.</p>
<p>Groupon rate is $299 ($358.05 after taxes)</p>
<p>Rack rate is $299 ($337.81 after taxes)</p>
<p>Passholder rate is $269.10 (<strong>$303.79</strong> after taxes)</p>
<p>In this instance, even the rack rate is better than the Groupon rate. </p>
<h2>1 night Combination Suite (up to 10 guests)</h2>
<p>Lastly we look at the suites good for up to 10 guests. </p>
<p>The cheapest night on the calendar we selected is <strong>October 4, 2022</strong>.</p>
<p>Groupon rate is $208 (<strong>$249.08</strong> after taxes)</p>
<p>Rack rate is $340 ($382.15 after taxes)</p>
<p>Passholder rate is $306 (343.48 after taxes)</p>
<p>The most expensive night on the calendar is <strong>February 18, 2023</strong>.</p>
<p>The Groupon rate is $588 ($704.13 after taxes)</p>
<p>Rack rate is $650 ($734.78 after taxes)</p>
<p>Passholder rate is $585 (<strong>$660.84</strong> after taxes)</p>
<p>This scenario shows the Passholder rate is the best deal.</p>

<p>One of the great things about this Groupon promotion is a much better cancellation plan compared to booking directly with Cedar Point. If guests were to book directly through the Cedar Point website, cancellations require a 72 hour notice and a $50 cancellation fee. The Groupon offers requires a 4-day cancellation notice but does not include a fee if you do so prior to the deadline.</p>
<p>So as we see with the examples above, the prices vary widely from the cheapest nights on the calendar to the most expensive. Sometimes the Groupon rate provides the best deal, but other times the rack rate or even the passholder rate provide a larger discount. </p>
<p>Some of these rates are an absolute steal. The cheapest nightly rate of $118.55 for the 1 night Standard Two-Double Bed Room (up to five guests) works out to only $23.71/person. When you consider that includes the water park plus a nightly stay, that provides for some great value. </p>
<p>Even the 1 night Combination Suite (up to 10 guests) working out to $249.08 is only $24.91/person. </p>
