We have come to avoid chicken & waffles because, frankly, it’s never really been that good. While it is a relatively simple dish, the execution often falls short of being enjoyable.

So we were a little cautious when the Bay Harbor bar menu was offering chicken and waffles this summer.

Bay Harbor has prepared their own take on chicken & waffles that takes crispy chicken tenders over buttermilk waffles. The dish is then topped with fried sweet potato straws and served with a side of bourbon honey syrup. The presentation is beautiful!

The first thing we noticed when trying the Bay Harbor chicken & waffles was the waffle had a nice sweetness to it that made it really enjoyable! The sweet potato added a nice contrast in flavor and the bourbon honey syrup was divine!

We really enjoyed the Bay Harbor chicken & waffles, and the added sweet potato and syrup made for a flavorful combination.

However, we have one suggestion. The chicken tenders appear to be the standard version sold throughout Cedar Point, and while they are good, we would expect Bay Harbor, an elevated dining experience, to serve the dish with a hand-breaded chicken tender or traditional fried chicken. The version currently served with the meal was a bit too crunchy and chewy when trying to get a bite of everything at once.

Regardless, despite our trepidation for trying the Bay Harbor chicken & waffles, it is a menu item we would happily try again!

Chicken and Waffles is available from the bar menu for $15 everyday. Or take advantage of the Bay Harbor Happy Hour deal on Sundays, where guests can purchase the chicken & waffles for only $10.
