Welcome to our interview series where bloggers share their insights on dining when at Cedar Point! Brad, from CP Fansite, a division of Coaster Crew, recently visited Cedar Point, so we asked him to write us a review on the dining experience when at the park.
At CPFansite, we are about everything Cedar Point from the coasters, to the shows, and even relaxing on the beaches. Something we love to talk about that often gets overlooked is all the delicious food options within the park and who better to share this with than with our good friends at CPFoodBlog!
1) When was the last time you visited the park? Today of course!
2) Who do you typically visit the park with? My wife, friends, and anybody that wants to have a good time!
3) Do you bring any food/drink into the park? I never bring food or drinks in the park.
4) Do you take part in any of the meal plans (single, all-day, or all-season)? I have the All-Season Dining Plan.
4a) If you did, what were the pros and cons? I love being able to visit the park whenever I want and know that I never have to buy food. I am always guaranteed two meals at the park. Pink’s is on the meal plan and has the best quality food of all the dining options. Late in the summer season, Midway Market, Cedar Point’s buffet was added as an option which really made the All-Season Dining Plan a huge bargain. Now to find out that it will be taken off the dining plan before the season is over is a real bummer. If you are like me and go to the park three or four times a week, the food gets pretty bland, pretty fast. Basically your main options are hamburgers, hot dogs, cheesesticks, pizza, grilled chicken, chicken tenders, and corn dogs.
5) What is your must have food when visiting the park? When using the Dining Plan, my must visit restaurant every time is Pink’s. I always get the same delicacy, a Long Island hotdog minus sauerkraut, add guacamole and sour cream. When I am looking for something above and beyond the Dining Plan, I love the cookies from CJ’s Bakery. Chick-Fil-A and Panda Express are my favorite chain restaurants within the park.
6) Are there any food items you would not eat again and why? I am not a fan of the hamburgers offered with the Dining Plans. The hamburger patty is not very good quality. When getting a burger at the park, the offerings at Johnny Rocket’s are much better.
7) Do you/your family have any money saving tips for eating in the park? Get the All Season Dining Plan if you plan on visiting a lot during the season. This is the first year Cedar Fair is offering it so it is sort of in a beta mode until they get all the kinks worked out with a better menu of options for next year.
If you have a platinum pass, use it for 10% discounts at most of the restaurants in the park. On Sundays, you can buy a sundae and get one free with your platinum pass at Toft’s. Cedar Point’s amazing fresh cut fries have a deal as well. With your platinum pass, buy some chili cheese fries and get another side of fries with two drinks free! This is probably the best deal on food in the entire park!
8) What is one thing you would request to make your dining experience better? I would love for drinks to be included with the All-Season Dining Plan, even if I had to pay another $20 a year. I understand they offer the drink cup with unlimited 99 cent refills all season, but I do not like to carry around the cup.
9) On average, how much do you spend to eat per visit? Before the All-Season Dining Plan, I would spend an average of $20 per visit. Now thanks to the All-Season Dining Plan, I spend about $5 per visit on food. There are times where I treat myself to an amazing meal at Famous Dave’s, but that is technically outside the park.
10) Are there any other theme/amusement parks food items that you would like to see at Cedar Point? Absolutely! My wife and I do our best to eat healthy outside the amusement park life. We would love to see an all natural or organic restaurant within the park for the health conscious offering such items as organic salad, fruit and veggies. It is nice that fresh cut fruit is now an option this year along with a few organic teas.
One food item I would like to see offered at the park is chicken kabobs. My guilty pleasure items I would like to see are deep fried Oreos and deep fried Snickers.
Overall, Cedar Point has a wealth of options for people who like all different kinds of foods from fresh cut fruit all the way to funnel cakes and everything in between.
