This past Friday, September 12, 2014, Cedar Point invited roller coaster enthusiasts that were members of coaster clubs, out to the park to experience a Halloweekends preview. In addition to free ticket to the park, exclusive ride times, a Halloweekends sweatshirt, and exclusive first access to the new Hexed haunted house, they also fed everyone with a buffet style meal at Midway Market.
So lets take a peak into what was served, and where appropriate, our comments.
The ravioli was really very good, served with the meatballs and tomato sauce.
The wings were also a personal favorite, and while we typically prefer a bone chicken wing versus boneless, they were both very good.
Personally, we typically love the pizza served at Cedar Point. However, the several pieces we tried (white chicken Alfredo pizza and BBQ chicken pizza) were not good at all. We were rather disappointed, as we looked forward to this being great.
Again, we really enjoyed the meatballs with marinara sauce.
We happen to be visiting the park with some vegan friends, and we were happy to see some great vegetarian and vegan options on the buffet.
The desserts, however, left a lot to be desired.
The cobblers were ok, but not the best quality.
The chocolate peanut butter bars were the star of the dessert section.
The pound cake was horribly dry, making it really difficult to enjoy.
Not shown but also served were the Toft’s individual vanilla and chocolate ice cream cups, as well as Coca-Cola Freestyle.
While certain menu items may have been hit or miss, the whole Halloweekends event was incredibly generous of Cedar Point, leaving very little room for complaints, especially when trying to serve several hundred guests at once. The CPFB is incredibly grateful for Cedar Point’s hospitality and the hard working staff that worked to provide such a nice event.
