<p>There are many of us who like reconnecting to our natural roots, and camping is a fantastic way to do it. Are you the kind of person who craves adventure, but does not like to give up amenities? If so, a trip to Lighthouse Point may be the vacation for you! This awesome campground is a unique way to experience both Cedar Point and camping, and gives guests the opportunity to wind down in a rustic setting after long days in the parks. Of course, because Lighthouse Point is quite possibly the most unique of the Cedar Point Resorts, there are some things you will want to know before going. This is true for everyone, and even if you are a seasoned Cedar Point pro, you are likely to eventually discover some things you did not know when planning your Cedar Point camping adventure. For this reason, we have taken the time to provide you with a list of 7 important things to know before heading out on your camping excursion. These tips will help you plan, ensuring you have the very best Cedar Point camping experience possible.</p>
<p><strong>1. Know the Price Point</strong></p>
<p>While Lighthouse Point is almost always the least expensive place to stay on Cedar Point property, it is incredibly expensive when compared to typical campgrounds outside of the peninsula. Still, because of the location and all the other awesome perks, Lighthouse Point can be worth the extra cost. In fact, we highly recommend staying here at least once in your life because it is such an awesome experience.</p>
<p>Where else can you relax outside, while grilling some burgers with roller coasters running in the background? </p>
<p><strong>2. Different Types of Sites</strong></p>
<p>Do not try showing up to Lighthouse Point with a tent to start your camping adventure, as they are not allowed on property. However, if you have a motorhome or want to reserve a private cabin, Lighthouse Point is the place for you. No matter what kind of camper you own, there is a site for you in Cedar Point’s campground. The least expensive sites are standard full-hook up back in plots. For just a bit more, there are larger sites, including <a href="http://www.sanduskyregister.com/story/201802190020" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Ultimate Patio spots</a> that include built-in charcoal grills. All sites come with electric, water, sewer, and cable hookups. Of course, there are also fully equipped cottages and cabins. </p>

<p><strong>3. Lighthouse Point Books Up</strong></p>
<p>It is important to note that despite the 276 sites found there, Lighthouse Point is often one of the first Cedar Point sites to book up completely. This is especially true during the peak summer months. Therefore, you will want to book your site as soon as possible and hold on tight to that reservation. Above all else, never expect to drive up to Lighthouse Point and get a site without reserving one. </p>
<p><strong>4. Consider the Weather</strong></p>
<p>Ohio weather is not always ideal for camping. Summertime is incredibly hot and brings occasional thunderstorms with it. Meanwhile, fall days tend to be cool, and the nights can get pretty chilly. No matter when you plan your trip, be sure to keep an eye on the weather. Rain storms can strike unexpectedly being located on Lake Erie, and this can leave you with a campsite full of soaked items if you are not prepared.</p>

<p><strong>5. The Grounds are Enormous</strong></p>
<p>As mentioned before, Lighthouse Point is home to 276 campsites. Clearly, this means the place is quite big. In fact, it is so big that it has its own bus system to usher you throughout the Cedar Point peninsula and resorts (does not include Cedar Point&#8217;s Express Hotel or Castaway Bay). This is great for getting around, but can become frustrating because it does require some waiting to get anywhere during busier times. Riding bikes on Cedar Point property is also prohibited, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes for walking. </p>
<p><strong>6. Only Approved Fires</strong></p>
<p>Cedar Point takes fire safety very seriously, and this means the only approved fires are in provided grills. Winds can often be gusty on the peninsula, so it is best to keep fires small and contained inside provided grills. Open burning in fire pits is not allowed with the exception of the new Ultimate Patio sites that include a built in location for wood burning fires.</p>

<p><strong>7. All the Usual Perks</strong></p>
<p>Many people do not realize that staying in Lighthouse Point does not mean you have to give up all the perks of staying in a Cedar Point Resort. In fact, Lighthouse Point guests get all the same awesome things that any other Cedar Point Resort guest might receive. These include complimentary parking, access to pools, hot tubs and the beach, early entry, planned activities, and more.</p>
