2020 Cedar Fair Season Pass News

As summer winds down, there has been lots of discussion lately on season passes for the 2020 season, especially when Cedar Point opted to discontinue the auto-renewal option. Those with auto-renewal at Cedar Fair parks, with the exception of Cedar Point, should have received notices that around September 1 they will be charged for the new passes unless opted out.

For those that buy or renew their season passes between August 14-18, 2019, you receive some enticing benefits. (Note: Canada’s Wonderland started the offer Aug. 14, other parks Aug. 15. We expect the deadline to be extended beyond the 18th.)

Get unlimited access for the rest of 2019 and 2020 (note some Regular passes do not include Haunt and Winterfest).

New Regular/Gold Passholders receive a free Fast Lane Plus valid thru remainder of 2019 season (restrictions apply).

Renewing Passholders receive a free Fast Lane Plus and bring-a-friend ticket valid thru remainder of 2019 season (restrictions apply).

Lets dive into the 2020 season pass pricing and benefits.

New Platinum Pass- $197 (August 2018 pricing for 2019- $195)
Renewal Platinum Pass- $ $191 (August 2018 pricing for 2019- $190)

The big difference for 2020 in Platinum season passes is the Jr/Sr level option has been eliminated. This is going to be a very big sticker shock to those used to paying for Jr/Sr Platinum passes! This results in an approximate $30 price increase per Platinum pass for 2020.

Starting January 7, 2020, Platinum season passes include admission to Schlitterbahn New Braunfels and Schlitterbahn Galveston!

Some interesting changes in the payment plans. In 2018 and prior, the payment plans were divided up into 9 months. Then in 2019, all parks except Cedar Point, Dorney Park, Michigan’s Adventure & Valleyfair started offering 12 month payment plans. While we love the payment plan, we personally did not like having to extend plans out for 12 months. We much rather buy in August and have the passes paid off by the time Cedar Point opens in May.

For 2020, payment plans will be divided over 12 months at all parks except Cedar Point (11 payments), Dorney Park (11 payments), Michigan’s Adventure (9 payments), Valleyfair (11 payments).
