One of Cedar Point’s most successful events, Brew & BBQ, will again return for 2018! Though expect to see some changes to how it has been done in the past.
Before we get into details, lets lay the scene. When Cedar Point opens for the 2018 season, the area surrounding Steel Vengeance is going to be PACKED! You pair the very popular Maverick with Cedar Point’s first Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) monster, and Frontier Town is going to be gridlock.
Pro Tip: This will also be a great time to hit up every other area of the park.
In 2016 and 2017, Cedar Point held Brew & BBQ in Frontier Town, which is a great setting for the event. Brew & BBQ was typically held in mid-May to the beginning of June in years past. However, with a new coaster, when crowds will be at their peak in the area, it makes sense to delay Brew & BBQ, at least a little. Maybe Steel Vengeance’s wait times will decrease from 4 hours to 3 by the time the event roles around! 🙂
No doubt, no matter what Cedar Point does in 2018, the area around Steel Vengeance is going to be busy!
This year, Cedar Point’s Brew & BBQ will be held a little later in the season, June 8 through July 1, 2018. This is great news, as the crowds may subside a little by then! Brew & BBQ starts at 2:00 pm each day and runs until 9:30 pm.
Admission to Brew & BBQ is included with your park ticket/season pass. However, if you wish to try any of the food or beverage, you will need to purchase tickets.
Advanced online sales are $64-70 for Cedar Point + Brew and BBQ Admission. Tickets for Brew & BBQ are $25 when purchased in advance ($22 for season passholders).
If you wait to purchase tickets until you arrive at the park, they are $92 (Cedar Point + Brew and BBQ Admission Bundle), $35 (Brew and BBQ Only (park admission required)), or $25 (Brew and BBQ Only (Passholders, Resort Guests and Marina Passholders)).
Cedar Point has also introduced a new Brew and BBQ Overnight Package that includes accommodations, admission tickets, plus two tasting cards per room. Prices start at $101/person.
An additional 15 tickets can be purchased at the event for $22.
Your Brew & BBQ admission gets you 15 tickets, a souvenir sample mug, and live entertainment.
Season passholders, upon checking into the event, will receive a bonus ticket redeemable for a 12 oz. glass of the Brew Kettle beer.
Just like previous years, 1 ticket gets you a sample of beer, or a sample of BBQ/1 dessert. 3 tickets gets you a 12oz beer. One ticket can also be used at the Round Up for a 16oz Coca-Cola product.
2018 Cedar Point Brew & BBQ Menu
Carolina BBQ
– Pulled Pork Slider with Slaw- A good ole traditional pulled pork slider served with a side of slaw. Great kid-friendly option with choice of sauces.
– Spicy Shrimp & Carolina Spoon Bread- Hands down our absolute favorite menu item of this years event! Crispy shrimp are laid on a bed of creamed corn based bread pudding, then topped with spice and a drizzle of sauce. Never having tried this before, it was much better than a traditional shrimp and grits that you would eat down south.
– Traditional Southern Slaw
– Carolina Vinegar Slaw
Kansas City BBQ
– Smokehouse Ribs with Chili Pecan Slaw and Wet or Dry Rub- Two traditional ribs are served with a side of slaw that really packed a spicy punch! The slaw actually surprised us and was a fantastic version we had never tried. We love a good kick, and the sweetness of the wet ribs paired with the spicy slaw were perfect together, elevating the dish above previous years of the Brew & BBQ.
– Loaded Mac & Cheese with Pulled Pork and Bacon- Another great kid-friendly option, the homemade mac & cheese has pulled pork and bacon in it that provided the perfect amount of comfort food with a touch of BBQ. Tip: Drizzle BBQ sauce on top!
Memphis BBQ
– Smoked Brisket with Smashed Pork Rind and Spicy Pickle Relish- Guests love the slow smoked brisket that is available year round at the new Miss Keat’s Smokehouse. However, for Brew & BBQ, Executive Chef Phil Bucco has elevated the dish in a fantastic way! Two slices of brisket are topped with smashed pork rind that adds a great additional flavor and texture. In addition, the spicy pickle relish goes really well with the dish! This was our second favorite menu option behind the Shrimp Corn Spoon Bread.
– Smoked Sausage- Traditional sausage slider. We would have liked to see this dish improved in some way with something to set it apart from what one can get at Miss Keat’s Smokehouse. Perhaps with a small scoop of creative mashed potatoes or sliced in half and served between two potato pancakes. Good, but nothing special.
Texas BBQ
– Big Horn Kickin’ Nachos with Jicama and Jalapeno Salsa- Ok, we admit, we have been rough on the nachos served at the Cedar Point Brew & BBQ in years past, notably because of the quality of chips and basic toppings. However, this year the nachos were incredibly different and fantastic with the jicama and jalapeno salsa. This is one of those instances where one ingredient change makes a world of difference, and we love the change.
– Three Meat BBQ Beans with Roasted Poblano Peppers- If there is one dish we heard that people loved most, it was surprisingly the beans! The BBQ beans packs a variety of flavors and was really good!
Miss Keat’s Sweets
We have a sweet tooth, so we were incredibly happy to see Cedar Point introduce desserts into Brew & BBQ lineup again this season. These two cute dessert offerings are a refreshing treat, and for those looking to cool their tongues from any spicy heat, a great option to cleanse the palette.
– Strawberry Short Cake with Fresh Berries and Whipped Topping
– Peaches & Cream with Pralines and Sweet Cream
