There is always a demand for healthier options when visiting an amusement park, but it seems especially desirable out in California and when visiting Knott’s Berry Farm. Fortunately, many Knott’s dining locations offer a grilled chicken sandwich on the menu, including dining plans.
We decided to use our Knott’s dining plan to check out the grilled chicken sandwich at Coaster’s Drive-In.
The sandwich includes a plain, grilled chicken breast on a sesame seed bun and a side of fries. Guests can then help themselves to a condiment bar for sliced tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, onions, and more, as well as ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise.
Due to the plain presentation of the grilled chicken sandwich, the toppings bar is up to your imagination and dietary discipline as to how much to add.
The sesame seed bun was standard and not as good as one with chicken torta over in Fiesta Village.
The chicken was well cooked and tasty.
While not every meal in the park should be served with something boysenberry (though we would not complain if it did), it should be offered as an option. Simply offer the guest some boysenberry aioli, like that served during the boysenberry festival, and you just took a standard chicken sandwich and made it a great, signature item.
The fries served with the meal are the standard version sold throughout the park. Again make sure to take advantage of the condiment bar to have sauces for dipping. We would like to see some healthier options available in lieu of fries like the apple slices or side salad sold elsewhere in the park.
