SANDUSKY, Ohio, Feb. 5, 2004 – Voted the “Best Amusement Park in the World” for a record six consecutive years, Cedar Point amusement park/resort recently announced plans to open three new restaurants for the 2004 season: Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que, Game Day Grille and Donut Time.

Located in the former Boathouse restaurant building in the Cedar Point Marina, Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que will feature hickory-smoked St. Louis-style ribs, Texas beef brisket and Famous Dave’s award-winning barbecue sauce. Famous Dave’s also features barbecue and country roasted chicken, barbecue sandwiches, burgers, salads and down-home classics such as made-from-scratch cole slaw, potato salad, Wilbur beans, corn bread muffins and Dave’s Famous Fries. Famous Dave’s delectable homemade desserts include its award-winning bread pudding and hot fudge Kahlua brownie.

Having won awards for everything from best sauce to best ribs to best cookbook, Famous Dave’s has received wide acclaim and praise from customers and critics alike. Famous Dave’s Rib Team regularly competes in rib competitions across the country and has raked in first place awards at the Great American Rib Cook-off in Cleveland, the Pontiac Rib America Rib Fest in Pontiac, Mich., the Twin Cities Rockin’ Rib Fest in Minneapolis and the Rib America Indianapolis Rib Fest to name just a few. Headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minn., Famous Dave’s of America, Inc. currently owns 38 locations and franchises 54 additional units in 23 states and has signed development agreements for an additional 148 franchised locations.

Sports fans will rejoice in the announcement that the Silver Dollar Café has been transformed into the Game Day Grille. Located between the Raptor and Blue Streak roller coasters, Game Day Grille will feature a sports bar theme, complete with small and large-screen TV’s so you won’t miss your favorite team’s games while at the park. Classic sports fare will include nachos, onion rings, Buffalo wings in a variety of sauces, steak burgers, chili, salads, lobster and shrimp bisque and more. Daily specials will also be featured.

Early risers who can’t wait to ride some of the tallest and fastest roller coasters in the world won’t have to conquer them on an empty stomach anymore. Cedar Point will offer guests freshly made donuts, giant cinnamon rolls, muffins, cookies, specialty breads as well as juices, milk, fresh-brewed coffee and more in its new Donut Time quick service restaurant. The new bakery will be located in the former annex arcade on the Main Midway, across from the Sky Ride station. Guests will be able to enter the park before opening to purchase goodies from the bakery.

“The exciting restaurant expansion program for the 2004 season at Cedar Point will offer our guests three completely new food service experiences,” stated Mike Mason, vice president of food services at Cedar Point. “Coupled with our current variety of restaurants, specialty food facilities and snack bars, these new restaurants will certainly provide even more mouth-watering temptations for every guest.”

Cedar Point will be open daily Saturday, May 8 through Labor Day, Sept. 6. The park reopens for Bonus Weekends on Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19 and for HalloWeekends on Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 24, 25, 26, Oct. 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 29, 30 and 31.
