Another New Years brings to surface all the resolutions no one keeps beyond January 31. Losing weight is so 1990. Giving up your morning coffee is never going to happen after your next 7:00 am meeting with your boss. Plus giving up on checking social media means you miss out on all the awesome CPFB updates, though we are sure you would be fine without another picture of your buddies cat. So how about making some resolutions you can actually make this year.
10) Taking Full Advantage of Your Platinum Season Pass
We are not talking about making the bare minimum number of visits to Cedar Point to just break even. You shelled out all this money for a pass, so map out a plan to use it at least once per month.
Ok, have your days planned out? Now double it! Anybody can do one trip a month; but the real heroes are those that can achieve higher status.
Trust us, it’s ok to miss your friends kid birthday party this year. Buy them a Cedar Point “Wish You Were Here” t-shirt and wrap it with a bow, because you just double downed on a season of fun.
9) Expand Your Horizons
Want to make your resolution extra challenging? See how many of the other Cedar Fair parks you can visit in a season.
Always wanted to visit Knott’s Berry Farm? Make it happen with a long weekend trip to the west coast of fun.
Have to make a trip out to the middle of the country? Plan a day trip over to Worlds of Fun and see the beauty of this nicely wooded retreat.
The point being, your tickets are already paid for, so take advantage of cheap gas prices and make it a point to see the other parks on your bucket list.
8) Get Caught in a Termagant
Seriously, if you are going to make #9 happen, make it a point to get down to Carowinds to ride Fury 325. Trust us, you will thank us when you do!
Then consider making the short drive north to Kings Dominion to cross off the second of four giga-coasters in the United States, Intimidator 305.
7) Give A Little Adventure
Did you know your Platinum pass gets you great discounts on some of the extra paid opportunities? If it were not for the super cheap $5 rides on RipCord at Cedar Point, we might not have done it…multiple times. Surprise dear, strap up and enjoy the ride.
They say those couples that experience thrills together have stronger relationships!
See what discounts are available at your park of choice.
6) Expand Your Palette
Remember that resolution to lose weight this year? You can do that 300 days of the year. For the 65 other days of the year that you are going to spend at Cedar Fair parks, live a little more and enjoy something you normally would not. Want to try fried Oreos at Kings Dominion? Do it! Not sure you would like Chef Kevin’s fresh fried avocado from the Worlds of Fun food truck? Go ahead and order yourself a round as you will not regret your decision.
5) Slow the Pace
Sure the masses that visit the Cedar Fair parks are doing it once a year (and some even less frequent) with the goal to get on as many rides as they can to get their money worth. However, the luxury of your pass is there is always tomorrow. So instead of rushing, plan a day at a slower pace. Try getting on as many flat rides as you can? Or see what kind of secret spots you can find in the park to take in a relaxing view.
4) Visit the Parks for Special Events
Think you have seen it all at your favorite park(s)? In 2015, we saw a boom in the number of special events at the Cedar Fair parks, and especially food related gatherings. Try staying late on the weekends for Cedar Point’s Beach Blast. Or try the popular Carowinds Taste of the Carolinas, returning for the 2016 season.
The specialty events give guests a great opportunity to enjoy the parks from a different perspective, plus try some fantastic Executive Chef prepared meals that you normally could not find in the parks.
Better yet, consider some of the coaster enthusiast events like Kings Island CoasterStock to get great special access to rides, tours, merchandise, and food!
3) It’s All For Show
Maybe your New Years resolution should be to get out and enjoy more of the Arts. Fortunately, the parks are more than just tall roller coasters and fast flat rides. They are more than refillable souvenir buckets or signature beers.
The parks hire world class entertainment each year to put on a large variety of shows. Enjoy lumberjack shows and high diving acts at Canada’s Wonderland. See character acts featuring the Peanuts gang, perfect for kids. Plus several parks have extreme sports acts and Cirque style performances that make for an excellent opportunity to be inspired to learn a new skill for next years New Years resolution.
2) Spread the Infectious Behavior
Chances are you may not even notice the hundreds of staff members each day that put in a ton of work to ensure you have the best day ever. Try on a resolution to pass on positivity. Make a concerted effort to smile and thank the workers for all their hard work. See a higher level employee? Make a mental note of which staff member stood out to make sure you have a great day, and drop their name to the management. No one ever loses when being presented with happiness, and it is something we could all use more of in today’s world.
1) Resolve to Help
We can cover a lot of ground, but there is only so much we can gather at once. Did you know helping us out is as simple as taking pictures? We are looking for strategic partners to help us grow, and 2016 is the year to make that happen. Feel free to reach out to us on the website or social media to help spread the message.
Bloggers and others with a strategic advantage to cover other parks outside of Cedar Point and Kings Island are in high demand.
If you can not help out with pictures, make it a point to give feedback on the website with what you though about specific events or reviews of select food items. Your feedback helps everyone from guests to staff know what works and what could use some improvements.
