Located in the Americana section of the park, the Cotton Blossom BBQ restaurant slow smokes their seasoned briskets after getting a custom spice rub.
We used our World of Fun dining plan to try the new sliced brisket, which includes one side and sliced white bread.
The three slices of brisket were tender and moist with quite of bit of fat around the edges. It had a very pleasant wood smoke taste, but not overpowering. We tried it with a couple of the available BBQ sauces but found that the sauces overwhelmed the flavor of the meat, as the meat is best by itself without sauce.
The brisket was much better than what was offered at Battle Creek BBQ last year, and compares very favorably to the other Cotton Blossom BBQ options (pulled pork and rotisserie chicken).
Two half slices of white bread were provided as an option, and real butter was available as a condiment (bonus!). All pickles are also made in house at Worlds of Fun, and are very flavorful. We assume the pickles were dill flavored, but not entirely sure.
The baked beans were pretty standard. There was no meat or smoke flavor, the predominant flavor was either brown sugar or molasses, and there were a few very small bits of onion and perhaps another green vegetable in the beans.
The Cotton Blossom BBQ also offers three signature sauces, a Kansas City Original, a Sweet & Mellow, and Spicy.
