The whole concept behind the new Provisions restaurant on Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island is for the menu options to be portable as you walk around the attraction.
One of the new signature menu options are made fresh panini sandwiches. Since the paninis are made fresh, guests can customize them as they would like with toppings.
The barbecue smoked brisket is typically pretty good at Cedar Point, so we were happy to see it served in another new sandwich.
The default brisket panini is made with spinach, red onion and blue cheese on a rustic sourdough bread. On one occasion we sample the sandwich with the regular options. On a separate visit we tried it with melted cheddar cheese and red onion for that little bit of bite, and then toasted in a panini press.
We have to admit, being big fans of blue cheese, the standard version of the BBQ Brisket Panini is pretty outstanding. Like really, really good. As the sandwich is pressed, the blue cheese turns creamy and melts over the top of the brisket, making for a really terrific flavor.
For those without and affinity for blue cheese, you may prefer trying the sandwich with cheddar for a good flavor. We just really preferred the blue cheese.
The sandwich is really good; however, at the price point we would like to see it served with a fresh side of pasta salad, potato salad, cole slaw, or something similar to give the meal that added summer feel.
Also, we happen to visit on a slow night where we were the only ones who ordered food, and the lead time for a sandwich was still really long. On a busy day, we can not imagine how they are going to be able to prepare and get these sandwiches to the guests in a reasonable time.
