Back in 2016, Cedar Point created their own version of a roller coaster group by debuting the Ride Warriors Club. The new “Ride Warriors Club” gave Cedar Point fans a members-only group that received exclusive park access and benefits. Members, limited to 1,000, received their own membership card, private ride time on some of the park’s most popular rides throughout the season, access to invitation-only events, unique photo and video opportunities not available to the public, private question & answer sessions with park management and more.
The 2016 pricing was $120/guest and did not include park admission.
What was included?
Ride Warrior Club members were given the opportunity to purchase CoasterMania! tickets without having to join other coaster clubs like the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE) or Great Ohio Coaster Club (GOCC).
Members received four (4) single use Fast Lane vouchers for use throughout the season.
Two (2) single use Preferred Parking vouchers were included.
The park offered exclusive ride times with Coffee & Coasters events throughout the season.
– May 28 at 8:00 a.m. for Exclusive Ride Time on Valravn and Q&A with Project Manager Adam Pooch
– June 18 at 8:00 a.m. for Exclusive Ride Time on Millennium Force and Q&A with Planning and Design Rob Decker
– July 10 at 8:00 a.m. for Exclusive Ride Time on Maverick and Q&A with VP and General Manager Jason McClure
While not initially offered, it appears an additional Coffee & Coasters was held August 27 on GateKeeper.
A special Maverick private tour was originally scheduled for July 24, but due to weather was held July 30.
On-ride video days were offered, where guests received their own personal video while riding.
– June 29 on GateKeeper
– August 17 on Valravn
The park also offered a special behind-the-scenes HalloWeekends event on September 24 and exclusive holiday gathering, tour, meal and Q&A on December 4.
In 2017, the price dropped to $99/guest.
The lower price point came with only one (1) single use Fast Lane voucher and no preferred parking access.
Coffee & Coasters was scheduled
– May 20 Millennium Force
– June 17 Maverick
– July 15 Valravn
On-ride video day was held August 16 on Millennium Force.
Two additional exclusive tours were held September 3 and October 14.
The holiday gathering was held December 3.
So what’s the point?
Honestly we completely forgot about this club until doing some research (or lack there of) in our archive.
What we find interesting looking back on this program is fast forward to now, and this price point seems like it could be of interest to Cedar Point fans.
In 2022, Cedar Point attempted an after hours exclusive ride time event (Wild Frontier Nights) for $100/person, and while it was FUN, ticket sales were extremely low with the majority being handed out to day guests for free. The big complaint was the high price point.
So the question than becomes whether the $100 price point could hold for the Ride Warriors Club. Obviously after the 2017 season, Cedar Point must have seen wavering attendance and decided sales were not worth the effort. But the question now is that for a price point that includes access to the park for 8 events + a Christmas party + opportunity at CoasterMania! and not even to mention all the other benefits like meals and extras seems like a down right steal.
So how do think a resurrection of the Ride Warrior Club would be received in todays market?
