Worlds of Fun will celebrate 50 years in 2023, and will honor the half century of FUN with an all new ground up Great Coasters International (GCI) and Skyline Attractions hybrid titan track Zambezi Zinger.
Zambezi Zinger will capture the spirit of Serengeti in the African section of the park. The roller coaster uses a new titan track that Cedar Fair was testing at Michigan’s Adventure in 2022.
In addition, Zambezi Zinger will feature new Infinity Flyer style trains. The roller coaster will operate with 2 trains at 16 passengers each.
The 2 minute roller coaster will travel 2,428 feet at 45 mph after descending from a 74 foot lift hill.
Guests may recall Worlds of Fun operated a Zambezi Zinger from 1973 until 1997. The original Schwarzkopf Speed Racer model operated on the site of Boomerang today. So it is fitting that the new Zambezi Zinger will be on the site adjacent, where Dinosaurs Alive used to operate.
The modern version of Zambezi Zinger will utilize the same queue building as the original. The new version will also feature a very unique spiral lift hill, a mid-course tunnel and utilize the woods and terrain to really capture the wild experience.
If you are excited to check out the all new roller coaster at Worlds of Fun next year, be sure to check out the 2023 season passes.
Worlds of Fun turns 50!
In addition to a new roller coaster, the park celebrates 50 years in service since first opening in 1973. The park will roll out 50 Nights of Fire, a nightly celebration and party. Guests will see throwbacks including some nods to original live shows, great specialty menu items and limited time merchandise.
