The Cotton Blossom BBQ restaurant at Worlds of Fun began offering new entree’s for The Great Pumpkin Fest / Halloween Haunt. On the first weekend, Roasted Turkey Legs, Chopped Beef, and Pork Ribs were available in addition to the Pulled Pork, Beef Brisket, Rotisserie Chicken, and Hand-Battered Chicken Strips. On the second weekend, the Chopped Beef was missing, but the other extra items were available. None of them are on the menu boards (yet) but they all are available on the Dining Plans, paired with one of the normally provided side options.
We love BBQ ribs, and these were delicious! They were well smoked and prepared with a traditional seasoned rub. The portion size was not huge, but sufficient, along with the side items, to satisfy our appetite. There was significant fat mixed in with meat around the ribs, and I am sure that this contributed to keeping the ribs tender and juicy through the smoking process.
We selected the waffle fries to go along with ribs, and a slice of bread, real butter, and Worlds of Fun’s own homemade pickles completed the platter.
We did try some of the Worlds of Fun ‘Original’ BBQ Sauce with these ribs, but found the sauce overwhelmed the wonderful smoke flavor of the ribs, so we ate most of them without sauce.
‘Premium’ dining options such as this, available to Dining Plan customers, are a welcome treat!
