The Zamperla flying roller coaster at Canada’s Wonderland, known as Time Warp, is officially closed and being removed from the park.

Per notice from Canada’s Wonderland, “Time Warp is being retired and will be removed before Canada’s Wonderland opens in May. Plans for the area have not yet been announced.”

Opened in 2004 as Tomb Raider under the Paramount Parks, the roller coaster was one of the more unique attractions we had ever rode. Guests loaded standing into 4-person ride vehicles. A cage then came down behind you, locking your body into place, and the vehicle then tilted so guests were lying on their stomachs.

Then the vehicle went up a spiral lift hill before releasing the vehicle through a back-and-forth wild mouse style track that included several inversions.

Guests had to be 54″ to ride.

After years of visiting Canada’s Wonderland, I finally decided to get my first ride in April 2023. As a big boned person, the ride was extremely tight and unforgiving. Once the rear cage came down, I should have requested to leave then because what ensued was agony. The ride vehicles once on the track were very shaky and as someone who is not a big fan of inversions in general, I walked away vowing to never ride again.

While I have no personal connection to wanting to preserve Time Warp, what is sad is it was one of those really unique attractions that guests do not see everyday. One of our personal favorite aspects to visiting Canada’s Wonderland is the huge assortment of rides that we have only ever experienced at this park. So in that regard, it is sad to see something like this close.

No announcement has been made at this time as to what will be replacing Time Warp roller coaster. It should be noted in 2021, the Kingswood music theatre just south of the Time Warp land was removed. This opens up some huge new area ripe for park additions in the future. Stay tuned.
