Snoopy may not be a dog of many words, but he speaks volumes about the holiday spirit! Everyone’s favorite beagle will return as the 2021 Grand Marshal for the 38th annual Dominion Energy Christmas Parade. The Christmas Parade will begin Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 10 a.m. in front of the Science Museum of Virginia.
“We are so excited about bringing holiday cheer back to the streets of Richmond this year,” said Parade Director Beth Karrer. “Snoopy has always been a fan favorite and embodies this year’s theme perfectly.” Snoopy also served as Grand Marshal in 2018 and returns with his Peanuts pals, appearing courtesy of Kings Dominion.
“We’re delighted to have the Christmas Parade back this year,” said Hunter A. Applewhite, president of the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation. “Dominion Energy is honored to be a sponsor of this long-standing Richmond tradition, and we can’t wait to see everyone come together for this holiday event.”
This year’s parade theme is “Bringing Back the Fun in 2021!” The lineup will feature colorful floats, giant helium balloons, college marching bands, local dance troupes, Legendary Santa, and much more! Honorary Grand Marshals include JMU Softball Pitcher Odicci Alexander and Coach Loren LaPorte. Alexander was the starting pitcher for James Madison University from 2017 to 2021, leading the team to their first-ever Women’s College World Series in 2021. She was also named Softball America’s 2021 NCAA Pitcher of the Year.
This year, Snoopy will celebrate the holidays at Kings Dominion’s WinterFest, showcasing the all-new WinterFest Wonderland Parade! Everyone’s favorite WinterFest merriment characters, singers, dancers, and Santa will take part in this magical parade, too! WinterFest runs select nights November 20 – January 2, with the Winterfest parade starting November 26. For more information, visit www.kingsdominion.com/events/winterfest.
