Prior to the start of the 2019 season, the new Worlds of Fun specialty menu items list included an Atomic Dog at Beach Bites inside Oceans of Fun water park. The Atomic Dog was supposed to be a spicy polish sausage topped with beach slaw, Flamin’ Hot Funyons® and house-made pickled red onions. Now that the park has opened, the Atomic Dog has changed slightly.

The Atomic Sausage sandwich was prepared on a fresh hoagie style white bread bun holding a piece of spicy sausage covered in sliced onions, coleslaw, and a sweet and sour sauce. The sandwich was topped with what appeared to be a large dried pepper. The meal is served with a side of fries.

The sausage was tasty, with slight heat. The sweet and sour sauce is also used on the bacon wrapped pork-on-a-stick entrée item, also from Beach Bites, and goes well with pork.

The Cole slaw was a standard condiment and is served at other locations in the park, such as Cotton Blossom BBQ, as a side item.

We took a very small taste of the dried pepper, but decided to treat it as a garnish rather than part of the sandwich.

The fries were fresh and plentiful. This meal adds to the large variety of options now available at Oceans of Fun beyond the standard pizza and burgers.

Despite menu boards saying the Atomic Dog is not included on the Worlds of Fun Dining Plan, employees confirmed it is available for a meal plan credit.
