One thing we try and practice at the CPFB is honesty. While sometimes it may come across as snarky, we try and be very blunt with our opinion of items. If we really like something, we will be sure everyone knows. However, if something is not right, we also are going to tell guests.
Coasters Drive-In Restaurant, at the end of the Cedar Point main midway, has been your classic burger joint since 1999. Grab a burger and fries, top it with your choice of toppings from the condiment bar, and enjoy the classic 1950’s vibe of the diner.
However, the last time we ate at Coasters was 2019. We tried a simple burger and a grilled chicken sandwich, and they were both so bad, we threw away the meals after only a couple bites. You can watch our last review below.
We also had an old review from 2014 of the Coasters Burger that is now a dinosaur. So what better reason to try the all new menu and create a modern review.
Despite the interior of Coasters being completely repainted for the 2020 season, the park opted to completely remodel both the interior and exterior of the building for the 2022 season. Previously Coasters Drive-In is now rebranded as Coasters Diner. The interior has been streamlined for quicker service. No more touch screen ordering, which often held up the line. Now guests simply walk up and order a platter. Guests get the choice of a burger, cheeseburger, fried chicken sandwich, or chicken tenders. In addition, guests get the choice of fries, onion rings, a salad, or pasta salad. Simple. Quick.
After paying, there is a condiment bar to add lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, and sauces.
We opted to use our Cedar Point dining plan to try the new cheeseburger.
One of our biggest pet peeves for YEARS was the cheese on sandwiches never came melted. It was always thrown on at the last second and just sat there. No melty goodness.
The very first thing we noticed though is that the double burger now comes with melted cheese. Ok, you have our attention.
Next, the double patty sandwich offers two thinner pieces of meat, except this is where we really took notice. When visiting an old-fashioned diner, one thing that always sets it apart is the meat is grilled on a flat top, giving it the classic crispy edges. The Coasters burger now has the crispy edges and melted cheese. The food finally fits the atmosphere and was not just thrown on the broiler.
While the sandwich definitely is not anything pretty, it makes up for in flavor. We were all quite impressed how the little burger that couldn’t, now has won us over as something we would eat again at Cedar Point.
Coasters Diner is also the only current venue in the park where guests can get fresh onion rings as a side. While ours were a little soggy and cold by the time we ate them (blame trying to get pictures, etc.), they were really flavorful and would be delicious on top of the burger.

Calories: 890
Cost: $14.99
Dining Plan: Yes
Pros: Melted cheese, crispy burger patties.

We ate here opening day and were quite impressed. The line was to the door and in years past that would have been at least 45 minutes by the time you got your food. The new setup was very fast. We had our food in under 10 minutes. The new way of handing out your sandwich or tenders and then adding your side is so much better.
The food was very good. The new double cheeseburger is way better than the old single. It was hot with melted cheese. You add your toppings after you pay so no more pickle flavor if you don’t want them.
There are plenty of new tables outside which during the summer will be nice. Was a little cool opening day, especially with the wind but it was still nice to have somewhere to sit besides a planter box.
Overall it was a definite upgrade from what this was before and we will definitely be back
I agree with everything said on the review listed however it omitted there is a side ‘add-on’ bar available including lettuce, pickle, tomato. The photo shown is a plain burger.
See above…”After paying, there is a condiment bar to add lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, and sauces.”
