CEDAR POINT SOUVENIR CUP REFILL POLICY – This week Cedar Point’s sister property, Dorney Park, has been celebrating Food Week, with various announcements on improvements to dining options within the park. The big announcement yesterday was revisions to the souvenir cup refill policy.
Typically, at Cedar Fair properties, you purchase a souvenir cup (Cedar Point’s is only $10.17 after tax when pre-purchasing online) and receive free, unlimited refills on the day of purchase (or redemption when purchasing online). Then, on subsequent visits to the park through the season, if you bring the cup back, refills are only $0.99. For a family, it is one of the better values, especially on hot days when one consumes a lot of liquids.
Dorney Park announced revisions to the refill policy. Now, in addition to the $0.99 per refill, one can purchase a flat $5 unlimited refill band. If you refill more than 5 times in a day, you come out ahead. Note, the $5 fee is per future visit.
None of the other Cedar Fair properties appear to be making the change to the refill policy. Will this change? Maybe with enough pressure from the fans, Cedar Point will consider adding an unlimited refill policy on subsequent visits.
Update: While not officially listed as an option, if you take your refill cup with you on a subsequent visit, ask to have it reactivated, and for $5, you will get unlimited refills for the day.
