The newly reimagined Calico River Rapids at Knott’s Berry Farm is now open. Garner Holt Productions and Knott’s Berry Farm revealed the Calico River Rapids to the media on Thursday, May 16 and opened to the public on May 17, 2019.
Garner Holt installed over 20 new animatronic figures from snakes to bears to tell the story of the adventures the folks of Calico take when going into the wilderness. In addition, new log cabin structures were installed throughout the attraction.
The queue is themed to going through the lodging of the Calico wilderness and features fur bedding and animal traps on the walls.
The queue is also full of some great animatronic scenes that guests can get an up close view without getting wet.
As guests ride through the river rapids, they encounter gorgeous scenery and various forms of wildlife.
Off-ride guests can also blast TNT (water spouts) onto riders in this FUN interactive area of the ride.
The new Calico River Rapids is a spectacular advancement in the traditional soaker rapid ride. The storytelling surrounding guests in Calico River Rapids ties things together between Ghost Town (and Ghost Town Alive!), the Timber Mountain Log Ride, and Calico Mine Ride.
