Ever since our families first visit to Kings Dominion in 2015, we have been in love with the park. While every Cedar Fair park has their own unique aspects, Kings Dominion happens to be the most beautiful in our opinion. All the trees and beautiful landscaping. The food has typically been very good, and the collection of roller coasters and attractions have always provided us with multiple visits of FUN.
One of the most unique, and themed areas of Kings Dominion has always been Safari Village. With rides like The Crypt, Volcano, and Anaconda, and the theme surrounding Hungry Hippo, and to a lesser extent Outer Hanks, the whole area was nice with leftover remnants from when Paramount owned the park. Sure there are some weirdly out-of-theme elements in the area like Backlot Stunt Coaster and Intimidator 305, but you could easily get lost in the common tie-in while within the realm of Safari Village.
Sadly in 2019, Kings Dominion announced the removal of one of the most unique roller coasters on the planet, Volcano. While we might not personally like roller coaster inversions at our older age, Volcano was always a must ride attraction when visiting Kings Dominion.

Kings Dominion is announcing a complete overhaul of Safari Village for the 2022 season. Introducing Jungle X-Pedition, set to an exotic archeological dig site and research facility, where explorers can visit the base camp for a bite to eat at a new signature restaurant and shop at an immersive retail location.
Around the corner, guests can climb aboard Tumbili, a thrilling roller coaster that suspends riders on either side of the track as the cars flip continuously throughout the ride.
Created by S&S, the 4D FreeSpin roller coaster will take riders along 770 feet of track to a height of 112 feet and with a top speed of 34 miles per hour.
Tumbili will reside on the site of the former Crypt Topspin.
Outer Hanks will also be completely transformed for 2022 into the Explorer’s Outpost. New outside bar, new kitchen, completely new menu. More details coming soon.
