**UPDATE: Carowinds Cafe has since been removed from mobile ordering and now it is available at South Gate World’s Greatest Funnel Cakes.**
Ever since Cedar Fair introduced the mobile apps, one of the hopeful enhancements that we hoped they would make is the ability to order food directly from your phone. Having visited Disney parks several times, and used their mobile food ordering, it is a fantastic system for avoiding waiting in lines.
At the time of publishing, Carowinds is currently testing the mobile ordering system at the Carowinds Cafe.
To get into the system, proceed into the Carowinds app and click on Store button. At the bottom you will see a banner to a place a food order. Then you will see a list of locations currently offering the ability to order food, with the Carowinds Cafe being the only current offering. This is for the testing phase of the program.
After clicking Carowinds Cafe, you will see the list of menu items currently available to order. Oddly, the only menu items currently listed are whole pizzas, yet the facility is set up to make burritos, nachos, etc.
The mobile app then lets guests apply their season pass discount, if applicable and pay directly from the app. It is also nice to see they do not add in fees like they do when ordering tickets, etc. on their website.
The program is in full test mode, and according to Lisa Stryker (Carowinds Communications Director), “We’re running this pilot to help us decide whether and when to expand the program. We’re always looking for ways to improve the guest experience!”
We are hopeful that the ability to mobile order continues to expand not only into additional menu items at Carowinds Cafe, but also additional locations at Cedar Fair parks across the company. The ability to order food without waiting in line has the potential to be a very well used function of the apps.
