our family had a two year old and infant sons, but we did not let being a new and young family slow us down. As the economy was crumbling around us, I, Justin, after acquiring domain names over the years, decided to throw up a website discussing how our family saved money and afforded to travel more than the average family. InACents.com grew over the years, sharing all kinds of family-friendly deals.

One of those deals happen to be participating in the My Coke Rewards program, where we collected caps with codes in them and in return, received free tickets to Cedar Point and Kings Island. At the time, we were not season passholders, and were your standard guests that went once, or maybe a couple times per year.

On August 2, 2013, our family was casually enjoying a day at Cedar Point, and my wife asked, “What if we create a website about Cedar Point food similar to those centered around Disney?” In a moment of awe, I looked at her and said it was genius. So I immediately came home and started researching the idea to see if anyone had the idea and if there was a market for food information.

What I immediately found was there was a lot of people with questions about eating at Cedar Point, but there was very little to no information online. So we purchased the CedarPointFoodBlog.com.

We had one other visit to Cedar Point on August 25, 2013, where we started to do some reconnaissance on what food options were available. However, from there the idea just kinda sat given we had limited access to the park with free tickets.

As the 2014 season approached, we began to continue our hunt for deals to be able to visit the park and create the content for the website. In addition to making a plan with My Coke Rewards free tickets, we decided to join the CoasterCrew.net because it got our family free access to the media event for the PipeScream/Gemini midway on May 8, 2014.

Fortunately, for the PipeScream media event, they also gave us access to the entire park, which afforded us an incredible opportunity to photograph every dining location and menu at Cedar Point.

For the 2014 season, InACents.com was also selected as an official Cedar Point Blogger, which also gave us access to the park for free several times during the year.

Also to note, around this time, for legal reasons we decided to rebrand as the CPFoodBlog.com.

In 2014, our family was able to visit Cedar Point and Wildwater Kingdom a total of 12 times, including the inaugural Coaster Campout, without the use of season passes. It was enough to get the website up and running, build an initial audience, and network with other enthusiasts.

By the end of the 2014 season, the website had built up enough of an audience, that we elected to purchase season passes and go all-in with the concept. We kicked it off by going to our first ever visit to Knott’s Berry Farm in November 2014. Besides building out the Cedar Point and Wildwater Kingdom portions of our website, it was also the first time we expanded into another park with our Knott’s Food Guide.

In January 2015 we added Castaway Bay properties.

By April 2015, we had expanded with Kings Dominion and Carowinds food guides.

In May 2015, we partook in the first Kings Island Coasterstock, which allowed us to expand into the Kings Island food guide.

Also in May 2015, we added a Worlds of Fun food guide.

By July 2015, we added a Canada’s Wonderland food guide.

September 2015, Dorney Park food guide was introduced.

Circling back to our family’s deal hunting history, you can say 2015 was the year of maximizing the benefits of a Platinum season pass!

We continue to visit as many of the Cedar Fair parks as we can each year, or have an incredible group of people helping us at their various home parks.

In March 2024, the CPFoodBlog rebranded as the FUNFoodBlog to better transition towards the future.

Our family has been extremely fortunate in the endeavor of the CPFoodBlog.com, as it continues to grow by leaps and bounds, reaching tens of thousands of visitors each month looking for information on food and news from all the Cedar Fair parks. Your support over the years has been pivotal in our success, Thank You!

If we can be of any assistance in your journey, please feel free to reach out to us by sending us an email,
