EDIT: Refer to the 2021 Cedar Point Tricks and Treat Food List for the latest menus and information.
As the temperatures start to cool off, and the smell of pumpkin spice is in the air, the year of COVID brings a new reality to those of us that adore Haunt season at Cedar Fair parks. This year, Kings Island and Cedar Point are the lone parks offering a fall event. The new labeled event, Tricks and Treats Fall Fest, has more of a focus on the typical daytime activities we have become accustomed to seeing in the past.
While Haunted Houses and Fright Zones will not be present for 2020, guests will get to experience new outdoor live entertainment, family friendly activities, and an all new food tasting event.
For $30, guests can purchase a Tasting Card valid for six (6) menu items.
Cedar Point ($57) and Kings Island ($55) are offering an admission that includes parking and three (3) menu tasting card. The 3 menu tasting cards can be upgraded to the 6 item cards for $15.
Guests will also be able to purchase specialty menu items a la carte for $6.99-9.99.
Unfortunately, the tasting cards are ONLY available for use on the day of activation. Therefore, you can not use them multiple days.

Cedar Point Tricks and Treats Fall Fest Menu
Saturdays and Sundays, September 12-November 1, 2020
The Corral
Toxic Mac– Macaroni pasta tossed in green pesto cheese sauce with grilled sausage
Fall Mac & Cheese– Topped with bacon and breadcrumbs
French Quarter Confections
Worms in Dirt Funnel Cake– Topped with Oreo crumbles, sour gummy worms and whipped cream
Pumpkin Spice Funnel Cake– Infused with pumpkin spices and topped with cream cheese frosting
Not much to say here other than the menu item our kids were most excited to try. Cute, fall themed funnel cakes showcasing the new French Quarter Confections.
However…one thing we never get is why the park pushes a perceived lessening of value. The serving potion of the funnel cakes for the Fall Fest are half a normal funnel cake, sliced in half. We get that, as you are trying to show the guest a tasting size portion. However, Canada’s Wonderland often sells a small trio of funnel cakes. Cedar Point could quite easily utilize a smaller round funnel cake mold for these types of events. It is one of those things where perception comes across differently based on presentation factors. We often say this same thing about the plates used to serve guests. Do not give guests a giant plate and then only serve a small portion of food. Visually give them a smaller plate that appears to be overflowing with food. Show perceived value and watch sales rise!
Wagon Wheel Pizza
Fire Toasted Dessert Pizza– Topped with chocolate chips, marshmallow fluff, oven toasted with raspberry drizzle
Fall Harvest Pizza– Topped with olive oil, caramelized onions, basil, sausage, provolone and Parmesan cheese
As a general rule of thumb, we never get Cedar Point pizza because there are far better options to redeem our dining plan credits. Plus it has never really been anything special. However, we were quite surprised to try the new Fall Harvest Pizza.
This style pizza is more of a flatbread, served as two slices. If given the chance, we would order this pizza way more often as it provided a great flavor profile of ingredients. We were really happy to see a genuine sliced sausage on the pizza and not the typical “crumble” often seen on park pizzas.
Some in our party said this might have been their favorite menu item of the event. While others thought some of the sausage had a tinge of gamy flavor to it. Overall, we would rate the pizza a 8 out of 10.
Engine House Custard
Witch’s Brew Hot Chocolate– Optional spike with Bailey’s Irish Creme
Hot Cinnamon Cider– Optional spike with Fireball
El Diablo Cupcake– Topped with cinnamon candies and cayenne pepper buttercream
Candy Corn Cupcake– White cupcake topped with frosting and candy corn
Hot Potato
Day of the Dead Fries– Fries topped with cilantro, lime and garlic sauce, cotija cheese and jalapenos
Frankenstein Fries– Fresh cut fries topped with cheddar cheese, pulled pork and candied bacon
We were so excited to try a variation on the classic fresh cut fries, we opted to try both options at the same sitting. While the Frankenstein fries were decent, the real winner here is the Day of the Dead fries! Excellent combination of flavors and very nice touch on the pickled jalapenos.
While this is minor, we think they missed the mark on naming these fry options. Frankenstein is of course green, which would have been a perfect pairing for those with the cilantro, garlic, lime sauce. Also, note, that these were definitely a tasting size potion and notably smaller than your typical portion of fries. We find this amusing given the relative cheap expense of a potato. Regardless, we were impressed to see glorified fresh cut fry options and very much hope this becomes common place.
Hugo’s Italian Kitchen
Death Dog– Hot dog topped with fresh jalapenos, pepper jack cheese and five alarm chili
The Mummy– Bacon wrapped hot dog with American cheese and honey mustard sauce
The Mummy Dog quite surprised us. Excellent presentation and good combination of flavors. However, it also came with its own set of drawbacks, or maybe our own pet peeves.
The hot dog itself was definitely a premium cut of meat, wrapped in bacon, and perfectly cooked. The bacon was cooked just the right way where it provided a snappy texture around the hot dog. However, then the hot dog was plopped into a standard hot dog bun with sliced American cheese and drizzled with honey mustard.
This is one of those dishes that if it had taken just that one extra step, it would be superb. You have a pizza oven right there. Once plated, the hot dog should be pushed into the oven for a couple seconds to toast the bun, melt the cheese, and give the wrapped hot dog a little heat.
Chickie’s & Pete’s
Witch’s Cauldron Tomato Brew– Fire roasted tomato soup on bread bowl with tomato soup
Goblin Soup– French onion soup with gratin cheese
If you enjoyed the HalloWeekends bread bowls of years past, we think you are going to really like them this year. We tried the Goblin Soup, which was excellent and a very filling serving when served inside a bread bowl. Very good!
BackBeatQue
Dragon’s Leg– Slow roasted turkey leg dipped in Devil Thai chili sauce
Candy Apple Turkey Leg– Slow roasted turkey leg glazed in apple cider
Dive In
El Chupacabra Street Corn– Spicy corn on the cob with cumin chili cilantro butter
This corn was fantastic! The corn itself was nice and sweet and perfectly cooked with the husk on. Then it’s brushed with a cumin cilantro lime butter and sprinkled with a Parmesan spice blend. We make grilled corn on the cob about once a week at home, and this was easily the best we have eaten all year. Dare we say this might have even been our favorite menu item from the event!
Fall Harvest Corn– Roasted corn on the cob coated in maple butter
Happy Friar
Vampire Chili Corn Dog– Dipped in jalapeno batter, finished with hot sauce
The specialty corn dog is one area we really want to see Cedar Point succeed. Last year they tested a specialty hot dog/sausage in the standard batter, and while we liked the attempt, the park failed to change the monthly offerings as promised.
So we were excited to see specialty corn dogs on the 2020 Fall Fest menu.
However, the Vampire Chili corn dog was a bit disappointing. First, we are not quite sure why it is called a chili corn dog, unless referring to the jalapenos. Second, we would like to see the hot dog be a jalapeno infused sausage to better capture the flavor. Lastly, a spicy ketchup option would be much better than the hot sauce.
Ours tried on opening weekend did not appear to have any jalapenos in the batter. Maybe they were in there, but during each bite, we examined the batter and did not see any jalapenos. They also wanted to dip the entire corn dog in hot sauce, which we politely requested they drizzle it on instead.
Honestly, the Vampire Chili Corn Dog was a complete miss on multiple levels. We are told the recipe is going to be tweaked for next weekend, though we are not sure we would go to the expense of using another Tasting Card scan just to be disappointed again.
Honey Spiced Corn Dog– Coated in sweet batter infused with cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger
The Honey Spiced Corn Dog was an interesting fall twist on the classic.
