Having just returned from our first trip to New Orleans, we have an extreme appreciation for the incredible cuisine in the city of jazz. From char-grilled oysters to beignet, New Orleans offers a huge array of food options that originated in the south, and are now being duplicated around the globe.
California’s Great America is hosting their third annual Taste of Orleans event July 14-15 and 21-22, 2018.
Taste of Orleans features live music, decorations, sidewalk chalk artists and of course amazing flavors to tie it all together.
Guests can purchase a food tasting card for $30 ($25 for season passholders) which provides an amazing value to try the menu options.
2018 Taste of Orleans Menu
– Traditional Gumbo (Chicken & Andouille sausage over rice)
– Red Beans and Rice
– Crawfish Etouffee (served in a flaky biscuit bowl, the tomato based stew is combined with onions, spices, rice and crawfish tails)
– Cajun Meatballs (large meatballs are cooked in a tomato creole sauce with bell peppers and onions)
– Beer Battered Alligator Bites (served with spicy creole sauce)
– Cajun Roasted Corn (coated in butter, Cajun seasoning, cojita cheese and parsley)
– Muffuletta Pizza (features the signature olive salad)
– Petite Shrimp Po’boys

In addition, more than two dozen local brews and wines will be available. Drink tasting cards will be available for $25.
A small booth is set up to preview some of the treats coming to Candy Kitchen. In addition to various dessert options are featured fudge flavors including Ragin’ Cajun, Chicory & Coffee, and Mardi Gras Praline.
Each night of Taste of Orleans also includes a fireworks festival.
