<p><P><P>This weekend, June 4-5, 2016, Carowinds will kick off their inaugural Brewfest. Taking place along the Harmony Hall midway from 12:00 to 6:00 pm, guests will be able to try beer from 10 North and South Carolina breweries, including 30 micro-brews.</p>
<p>Admission to the Brewfest is included with your ticket to the park. If you would like to try the beer and/or food, there is an additional charge as outlined below.</p>
<p>Just like the <a href="http://cpfoodblog.com/review-2016-carowinds-taste-of-the-carolinas/">Taste of Carolinas event</a>, purchases for beer and food are done through a token system. Tokens cost $1.33 each. </p>

<p>What goes better with a good brew than food, games and live music? In addition, guests can tap their feet to great tunes from some Carolina bands and enjoy games like an oversized beer pong and brew slides (shuffle board with beer mugs).</p>

<p>Your involvement in Brewfest also plays a crucial role in the development of Carowinds and their future. The top three selling brews from each day will be sold at Carowinds for the rest of the 2016 season.</p>

<p>So how was the inaugural Brewfest? We sent correspondent Matthew and his wife to check out the Carowinds Brewfest.</p>
<p>The structure of the event was very good, with each microbrew company represented from around the two states (South Carolina &#038; North Carolina). Most of the brewers were very excited to share their creations and tell the patrons a little about their brewery and the beers in question. Its not every day a beer connoisseur gets to speak with a rep from the actual brewery.</p>

<p>Similar to the Taste of the Carolinas event, the signage was actually one of their favorite parts because it became a little attraction all its own. Each breweries story was depicted on pillars in the middle of the event so you could read more info on each of them.</p>
<p>They had Carowinds&#8217; own take on your modern tavern games. They had giant beer pong set up with volleyballs for ping pong balls. They also had a two lane shuffle board set up. The games were a great way to give the guests something new to do while conversing with friends over a beer.</p>

<p>The pricing and structure of the tasting was really good. In Greenville, we have something called the &#8220;Pour Taproom&#8221; which is a new concept bar. You go in and pay by the ounce for beer and it is self pour with an armband system to keep your tab, as well as cut you off if you had too much. The token system that they employed was as close to that system as they possibly could get, and the pricing was on par with other places like that. </p>
<p>The live music that was brought onto the outdoor stage in front of Harmony Hall was great.</p>

<p>Overall the event was good. It catered to its demographic well and we could tell that there was a significant audience it was playing to and they were enjoying this new experience at the park. </p>
