With a new Christmas holiday event, Winterfest, planned at Kings Island, Carowinds, and Worlds of Fun for 2017, there is a lot to be excited about when the snow starts to fall. Winterfest appears to have been a huge success when it debuted this year at California’s Great America, and when paired with Knott’s Merry Farm, are great events that help extend the season.
Winterfest is a great opportunity to see the parks decorated in holiday lights and displays that have never been seen before given they are new events. Plus it is a chance to experience new events like ice skating, and cherish some end of the year rides on your favorite attractions.
While everyone would love the opportunity to ride their favorite roller coasters during Winterfest, it is just not always feasible given the minimum temperature requirements stipulated by the ride manufacturers. However, one option that we would love to see the parks capitalize on is creating our favorite roller coasters out of Gingerbread.
Think about it, with a little creativity, the parks could masterfully recreate a signature gingerbread house each year highlighting one of their attractions. In addition, this would be a great opportunity to use some of the leftover candy that may not have sold throughout the season.
Imagine walking into the parks for the first time at Winterfest, only to see a big reveal of the annual Gingerbread roller coaster.
Here is a list, in no particular order, of Gingerbread roller coasters we would love to see at Winterfest (& Knott’s Merry Farm).
- Fury 325 (Carowinds)
- Banshee (Kings Island)
- Mamba (Worlds of Fun)
- Gold Striker (California’s Great America)
- The Beast (Kings Island)
- Prowler (Worlds of Fun)
- Hurler (Carowinds)
- Patriot (California’s Great America)
- Mystic Timbers (Kings Island)
- Ghostrider (Knott’s Berry Farm)
Which gingerbread roller coaster or ride would you like to see featured at Winterfest?
