One thing we really like about the new smokehouse concept at several of the Cedar Fair parks is the team is not afraid to experiment with limited time menu items. This gives the team a chance to try new techniques with various menu items and allows the guest to take advantage of the menu.
We were extremely excited to see Kings Island’s newest food venue, the Island Smokehouse, offering a limited time smoked turkey.
The meal included several thick slices of turkey and a choice of side. We opted for our favorite corn bread pudding and a side of the spicy BBQ sauce which is absolutely superb!
The turkey packed a nice, smokey flavor and retained it’s juiciness, which is the key to roasting any turkey. We were impressed with the smoked turkey and foresee it making a return later in the season, perhaps for Winterfest!
To note, on our previous visits, the corn bread pudding was simply amazing! However, this time it was really dry with some of the corn also not retaining their moisture. Something happened with the batch we had, as it was not ideal. We hope this gets checked as we have been seeing this as an issue since our initial review.
