One of the Cincinnati food staples among the locals is LaRosa’s Pizzeria, which is sold locally, but also inside the gates at Kings Island amusement park. As part of the 2015 Kings Island dining plan, guests can head over to Rivertown Pizza/LaRosa’s Pizzeria to not only get pizza, but also some additional items not found elsewhere in the park on the meal plans.
One of the items guests can get on the dining plan at the Rivertown Pizza location is the Kings Island Italian Royal Hoagie meal.
The sandwich is approximately 6″ in length and served on a nice, Italian sub roll. Also included is a layer of Italian style meats (salami, etc.), shredded lettuce, tomato, and cheese. The Italian Royal Hoagies are available in the coolers adjacent to the hot tables where pizza and breadsticks are served.
We were also able to substitute the side salad for an order of the breadsticks, which were perfect for our children with a free side of LaRosa’s dipping sauce.
The breadsticks were a favorite among our children, served with a baked piece of cheese on top.
The Italian Royal Hoagie was good, but make sure you grab some sauce packets or Italian dressing, as it is served plain.
We would have liked to see some more meat on the sandwich, as there were only two slices of each kind. In addition, we think the sandwich would have been better served warm, with the flavor of the meat becoming more prominent, rather than the deli style in which it was served. Perhaps this could have been requested, but we had already consumed the sandwich by the time we thought of it.
Overall, the ingredients were fresh and the meal fulfilling. In addition, the Italian Royal Hoagie with side salad provides a refreshing, healthy meal on a warm day in the park.
