Fresh off the meal plans at Kings Dominion, we decided to try the Dinner Bell Cheesesteak as one of our dining plan meal options. Dinner Bell is located in the Candy Apple Grove section of the park and serves up a variety of sandwiches and side dishes.
The cheesesteak comes on a hearty roll about 6 inches long. The steak is nicely seasoned and grilled with mushrooms and onions and topped with cheese sauce. The meal is served with a side of fries.
We were impressed with the quality of the roll, because in our experience, a soft, cheap roll can really be a detriment to the sandwich. This roll was thicker and higher quality leading to a good sandwich. The steak and onions/mushrooms were also very flavorful helping make for a delicious sandwich.
The only disappointment in the sandwich was the cheese sauce. We would have preferred to see some shredded mozzarella melted on top of the sandwich instead of cheap cheese sauce.
The six inch sandwich also leaves little to be shared. We would prefer to see the sandwich increased to possibly a 10″ version given the price point.
The standard fries are always a disappointment especially when Boardwalk Fries or Sidewinder fries are available throughout the park.
While the cheesesteak is a good meal, there are some minor improvements that could be made to make it a better option.
What has been your experience with the Kings Dominion Dinner Bell Cheesesteak?
