Yee-haw! A good way to get into the spirit of the old west is with some good old barbecue. Right before heading into Cedar Point’s Frontier Trail is the Red Garter Saloon, featuring live seasonal musical acts paired with a limited menu and bar service.
First appearing on the menu in 2015, the Red Garter Saloon pulled pork sandwich has evolved over the past couple years.
Today the pulled pork is provided by Ohio meat producer Root’s Poultry.
Guests get a large sandwich, served with a bag of Shearer’s brand potato chips or a fruit cup, along with a pickle spear.
The sandwich is hefty with a large portion of meat. The sandwich comes served with a sweet barbecue sauce and is very tasty. The pulled pork sandwich is really very good, though it is doused in a lot of sauce.
We also would have liked to see the meal served with a hefty portion of freshly made coleslaw, which always pairs nicely with BBQ.
Regardless, we can not complain too much about the Red Garter Saloon pulled pork sandwich, because it is certainly a welcomed change from the typical burger and fries. In addition, the food needs to be prepared and served quickly, as there is only a limited time due to the live shows.
The pulled pork is also currently offered on the dining plans. Just remember, unlike other food service stands around the park, you are expected to tip your waitstaff, even if using the meal plans.
