Located just before the causeway is Cedar Point’s indoor waterpark, Castaway Bay. Enjoy the day in their wave pool, indoor/outdoor hot tub, extensive kid play areas, water slides, and water coaster. Spending the entire day in the water can surely build up an appetite, so Castaway Bay offers several dining options to suit your needs.

We recently spent a night at Castaway and dined at Mango Mike’s for both dinner and breakfast. Keep reading to see more details and how good was the food.
Mango Mike’s is open for breakfast and dinner. Adults pay $12.95 for either buffet, and kids are only $6.95. The great thing about Mango Mike’s is that you do not need to be visiting the waterpark or staying at the resort to dine at the restaurant. Guests are free to walk in off the street and dine at Mango Mike’s, and after seeing the great value and tremendous food, it is highly recommended.
Dinner Buffet
The dinner buffet includes a salad bar (iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, mushrooms, cheese, peppers, red onions, tomatoes, croutons, various dressings, apple sauce, potato salad, and sliced fruit). The hot buffet included during our visit mixed vegetables, redskin potatoes, steamed broccoli and red peppers, various pasta dishes, lemon tilapia fish, mac & cheese, mini-corn dogs, smiley face french fries, chicken fingers, and assorted cookies and desserts (pies, brownies, cake, and cheesecakes).
Dinner included your beverage of choice.
Visiting any buffet always gives a little trepidation at the quality of the food. However, the staff was very attentive to constantly make sure the food was hot, fresh, and filled. The food was honestly VERY good, as each member of our party confirmed. While the fresh salad is always refreshing, probably our favorite dish on the buffet was the fish and mac & cheese.
The cookies were outstanding and freshly made. The desserts left a little to be desired, and we were not a fan of the various fruit flavored cheesecakes.
We had medium expectations for what to expect, but between the amazing wait staff and buffet staff, and the excellent selection and quality of the food, Mango Mike’s definitely deserves a return visit.
Breakfast Buffet
The following morning, prior to our entrance to the waterpark, we were provided with breakfast as part of an event.
The breakfast buffet features various fresh fruit, freshly-baked pastries, scrambled eggs, cold cereals with milk, hash browns, pancakes, french toast, biscuits and gravy, yogurts, cottage cheese, applesauce, sausage and bacon.
Breakfast included your choice of beverage including milks and juices.
Once again, we were quite impressed with the breakfast selection, and all of the food was again served hot, fresh, and tasted great! Most surprisingly, most buffets use pre-purchased bakery, and while we can not guarantee the pastries were made in house, they were fresh and not dry and tasteless like many equal buffets.
Mango Mike’s presents the consumer with a pretty great product for the price point, with staff that are attentive not only to the food, but also the guest experience, constantly clearing plates and refilling beverages. Kuddos to the culinary team at Castaway Bay’s Mango Mike’s!
