December 9, 1992: Cedar Point announces it will open a Hardees on the corner of the Causeway and Fifth Street in Sandusky. The fast food restaurant will have a Cedar Point theme and, at 4,500 square feet, will be the largest Hardees in the world.

Cedar Point owned and operated a Hardee’s restaurant along Causeway Drive near the entrance to the park. Hardee’s served a diversified menu that included hamburgers, roast beef, chicken, fish sandwiches and salads. Specialty items such as fresh-baked biscuits, freshly breaded chicken and Hardee’s Frisco sandwiches served on grilled sourdough bread were also offered. The dining room was open daily 6 a.m. to midnight and the drive-thru was open until 1 a.m. throughout Cedar Point’s operating season.

The agreement marked the first time the limited partnership chose to franchise a branded concept and allowed the amusement company to generate additional revenues by attracting customers who choose to eat outside the park.

Hardee’s Cedar Point opened its doors April 22, 1993.
